There is some recent discussion regarding the lottery here: paramountbaseball.proboards.com/thread/13539/draft-lottery?page=1&scrollTo=108484If a Yes vote for retaining a lottery for the first one or two picks passes. There will be a still weighted (but lesser) lottery for those picks. The roll will be done on Slack in a live sim event shortly after we roll to the off season. Weighting will be: Bottom 5 records get 20 balls each 6-10 get 15 each 11-15 get 10 each 16-20 get 5 each This vote requires 75% positive to pass. All 3 Yes votes will contribute to the 75%. If it passes the highest of the 3 yes votes will be implemented. Proxy votes will be cast to Yes, abolish the lottery.

You know, the more I look at this, is "Yes, abolish the lottery complete" really the same as the other two Yes' that they should be combined? The other two offer a level of chance for the first 1 or 2 picks, while the "Yes, abolish the lottery complete" doesn't offer any.

My thought was that modifying from 10 picks down to 2 where (mathematically anyway) there is a potential for a 9 pick drop down to a maximum of 2 was significant enough to be closer to abolishing than the current system. So I felt it was reasonable to group them together. Also, sucks that I typo'd "completely" and you cannot edit text in a pole.

what Would you recommend if you want to vote “yes to abolish lottery” but also not have your vote support the new proposed method?
I never liked the lottery before when I was the pirates too. The new method seems like it would punish teams with bad records even more then the current one.

The new method seems like it would punish teams with bad records even more then the current one. So, Abolish completely is your first choice. The question is what is your second choice? If your second choice is the current system, your best vote would be to abstain. If your second choice is one of the two new methods proposed, your best choice is "Yes, abolish lottery completely"

This poll passes. All non playoff teams will have a chance for one of the first two picks.

Saw that one, I meant the lottery where all non-playoff teams have a shot.

Saw that one, I meant the lottery where all non-playoff teams have a shot. Oh. My mistake. I think it has been detailed in a couple places spread out, but how about I consolidate here The 20 teams that did not make the playoffs will all receive numbers weighted so: Top 5 teams by draft position receive 20 numbers Next 5 teams get 15 Next 5 teams get 10 Last 5 teams get 5. Right after FA declare I will publish each team's winning numbers and then roll random 1-250 on Slack for the first two picks. Obviously the same team cannot win twice. Whoever gets the first pick will not be eligible for the second. The first round picks for the winning teams will be moved up.
