Says the guys who rooted for teams who finished 7-9 and 8-8 last year.... But that's okay keep looking back at 2008 and how special it was for your G-Men. What do you think they will do with their 12th pick in this years draft? Draft a left tackle? Maybe a new defensive end? Improve outside linebackers? look for another RB to complement Rashad Jennings? fill the void at defensive tackle? find a coverage middle linebacker since Beason is a bit weak there? find a reliable center who can develop chemistry with Eli? Tight end is a big void.... Jesus christ with so many needs I can see how they went 7-9 and are still living in the past..... Dont forget about 2011 as well

Although I get where the commish is coming from, options are generally used to make offers more attractive to the AI but we rarely have any intention of honoring them - so it's kind of working the system to even include them. I may be in the minority but I pick up the options a lot more than I don't. I love team options to protect myself against unexpected performance decline or getting stuck with a salary when a better option becomes available via trade, minor league development or free agency.

What ever we decide is best for the league is fine with me.

I also pick up options. In fact I picked up 3 out of 4 options this off-season.

For the record, I picked up Antonio Romero's $10 mil option this year. But having said that, I think it's the older guys where we use options to sign players with no intention of executing.

I've never put on an option I didn't expect to execute. I do use it as insurance against a Conger like collapse in ratings, but that would be the same at 25 or 50%.

Ok, that screenshot is enough to get my blood boiling a bit. And it seems to accentuate the point that several have made, when stating, "Don't we have bigger fish to fry?" Hey we have plenty of fish to fry, but that Vesting example is a real crap one. When it's been said that team options are used to "game" the system... I don't really see that so much. But this thing... bullshit!
That being said... let's get ALL topics that need to be clarified on their OWN individual thread and make some decisions. That's my thought.

That one example is different, as it is against current rules. I added "No vesting option can be triggered based on the number of At-Bats of a pitcher;" and "No deliberately unachievable clauses such as at-bats for pitchers." quite a long time ago.
What is allowed is 550 ABs for a back-up hitter, or other ways to make sure the target is not reached

I am for disallowing vesting options. I don't see ANY way in a Sim World that we can create black and white rules that monitor fairness, when it is totally in control of team to give the player AB's/innings. Just my opinion.

I like vesting options because it does cover you against injuries and an injury risk player. But I think we need to clean up the rules on them.

Its too soon but I'll dive in....
Q: Did you hear about the joke that Eli Manning told his receivers? A: It went over their heads.
Q: Why can't Eli Manning use the phone anymore? A: Because he can't find the receiver.
Q: Want to hear a Giants joke? A: Jason Pierre-Paul!
Q: Why is Jason Pierre-Paul like a grizzly bear? A: Every fall he goes into hibernation.
Q: What's the difference between the New York Giants and a dollar bill? A: You can still get four quarters out of a dollar bill.
Q: What do the New York Giants and Billy Graham have in common? A: They both can make 70,000 people stand up and yell "Jesus Christ".
A Redskins fan, an Eagles fan, a Giants fan, and a Patriots fan are climbing a mountain and arguing about who loves his team more. The Redskins fan insists he is the most loyal. 'This is for the Redskins! ' he yells, and jumps off the side of the mountain. Not to be outdone, the Eagles fan shouts, 'This is for the Eagles!' and throws himself off the mountain. The Patriots fan is next to profess his love for his team. He yells, 'This is for everyone!' and pushes the Giants fan off the mountain.
Okay last one....
On the first day of school a first grade teacher explains to her class that she is a Giants fan. She asks her students to raise their hands if they, too, are Giants fans. Wanting to impress their teacher, everyone in the class raises their hand except one little girl. The teacher looks at the girl with surprise, 'Janie, why didn't you raise your hand?' Because I'm not a Giants fan,' she replied. The teacher, still shocked, asked, 'Well, if you are not a Giants fan, then who are you a fan of?' 'I am a Patriots fan, and proud of it,' Janie replied. The teacher could not believe her ears. 'Janie please tell us why you are a Patriots fan?' "Because my mom is a Patriots fan, and my dad is Patriots fan, so I'm a Patriots fan too!" "Well," said the teacher in a obviously annoyed tone, 'that is no reason for you to be a Patriots fan. You don't have to be just like your parents all of the time. What if your mom was an idiot and your dad was a moron, what would you be then?' "Then," Janie smiled, 'I'd be a Giants fan.'

Hahaha Derek awesome.
I think vesting options should stay also, just clean the rules up a little bit as well.
