1. Who is the best player in your organization? How was he acquired? How long will he be on your roster?
I’ll go with 1B/DH Dane Juguericia. He was signed out of Puerto Rico in 2048. The fans in Arizona need someone to cheer for so dealing him seems very likely any time soon.
2. Are there any active Spring Training battles happening to determine spots on or alignment of the opening day active roster?
Oh lord, where do I start? 3B & bullpen spots are definitely up for grabs. The leash will be short as our goal is to be .500 this season.
3. What is your team's biggest strength?
I’ll say due to the park we play in it’ll always be hitting. I believe our Defense will be very good this season as well.
4. Where is your team's biggest weakness?
No doubt SP. It’s gotta be the worst in the league.
5. How far is this season's major league squad going to go?
.500 is expected but in the NL West it’ll be tough.
6. Who is your biggest rival? What is the history of that rivalry?
This is my 2nd year in Az so it’s too early to have a rival. There’s no doubt that I can’t wait to be good enough to make the other division foes sweat though.
7. What is your PBL World series prediction? Participants, winner and number of games.
MIL & Tex.
It’s Danny’s turn. It’ll happen in 6.

1. Who is the best player in your organization? How was he acquired? How long will he be on your roster?
Yusuke 'Dopey' Tanaka. Signed him as an international amateur free agent for $17,600,000. Best money spent
2. Are there any active Spring Training battles happening to determine spots on or alignment of the opening day active roster?
Not really no. I did bring up 2B Sancho García for ST to see how he would do. I am looking for him to replace Larry Byers next year.
3. What is your team's biggest strength?
I built the team to play at home and be competitive away. We did well last year after a few adjustments and look to keep that up.
4. Where is your team's biggest weakness?
LF and C are the biggest areas of weakness. Won-suk Yi cant hit worth a crap but he gets on base and the pitching staff seems to like him.
5. How far is this season's major league squad going to go?
Playoff again I hope. Its essentially the same team as last year, but with the stadium changes from the off-season there is some uncertainty.
6. Who is your biggest rival? What is the history of that rivalry?
The AL south. Everyone just beats each other up. Would have been the #2 seed last year if I was in any other division.
7. What is your PBL World series prediction? Participants, winner and number of games. MIL vs. someone from the AL. Each of the AL contending teams has a weakness, its really a toss of the coin on who will come out of the AL. I feel that there are a couple of teams that will match up very well against MIL so it comes down to who MIL plays on whether they win it all this year or not.

1. Who is the best player in your organization? How was he acquired? How long will he be on your roster?
Probably SP Carlos Rocha who went 20-3 last year. Carlos was signed as a free agent out of the California Penal League, the same league I came up in. Carlos will have a home in Cleveland as long as he wants it, or at least until he sells me that video he says he has.
2. Are there any active Spring Training battles happening to determine spots on or alignment of the opening day active roster?
The starting roster is pretty well set, which probably says as much about Cleveland's farm system as it does about our ML roster. We do have a competition at backup catcher that may not sort itself out until mid-season.
3. What is your team's biggest strength?
Definitely pitching. Our top three starters and our closer, Ramon Rojas, were indespensible indispensible critical to Cleveland's championship run.
4. Where is your team's biggest weakness?
We don't have a stud power hitter. We have a lot of guys who can park it, but no player that other teams fear. No Makalani Korra in other words. I don't buy all the talk that Korra corks his bat. He doesn't need to.
5. How far is this season's major league squad going to go?
We were very, very fortunate to win it all last year. There were so many teams that you in the media liked better. Don't get me wrong, Milwaukee, Texas, San Diego, Washington, those are all great teams, but the Indians came to play. This year we just want to win the AL Central again. It's a great division. Any team that wins the AL Central can go the distance.
6. Who is your biggest rival? What is the history of that rivalry?
I'm too new to the league to comment on that, but any game against the White Sox, the Twins or the Tigers is a street fight. Street fights are something I do know about. You play those guys, you bring your best cup and helmet.
7. What is your PBL World series prediction? Participants, winner and number of games.
The obvious match-up has been mentioned by Nick, Milwaukee and Texas. But Cleveland is walking proof that the Series you expect is never the Series you get. I like Houston over San Francisco. In 8.

Opening day is right around the corner. What is up with everyone's teams?
1. Who is the best player in your organization? How was he acquired? How long will he be on your roster?
1B Eric "Pudgie" Honess - He was drafted by Atlanta in 2036 with the 20th pick in the first Round. I hope he gets to finish his career here - I have him under contract through next year when he turns 40. I don't know if he is a Hall a Famer - Total War of 50.8 but his career average is .306 with an OPS of .862. He might make it in after a few times on the ballet.
2. Are there any active Spring Training battles happening to determine spots on or alignment of the opening day active roster?
Really only my 5th SP spot - Tom Stephen, Carlos Gonzalez and George Spence - Looks like Tom Stephen will start the year in the 5th spot. That might only be because Carlos has 2 option years left and Spence is grading out really well as a Reliever.
3. What is your team's biggest strength?
I think My Bullpen - There isn't a weak link - SP is right behind it followed by defense and hitting - we are trying to bring back Small Ball a little bit.
4. Where is your team's biggest weakness?
Last year our Power was pretty bad - our highest HR total was Velasquez at 24 HR's with Wolf at 23 and Honess at 21. No one over 25 HR's. We have not upgrade power this year and double down on contact and speed.
5. How far is this season's major league squad going to go?
I think we can be a sleep for the World Series - but we just want to make the playoffs again for a chance
6. Who is your biggest rival? What is the history of that rivalry?
Right now it has to be the Padres - though out the years I have had a hard time beating them - but its satisfying beating the Royals.
7. What is your PBL World series prediction? Participants, winner and number of games.
I think it will be Cleveland (Pitching is deep) Vs. Braves with Braves winning in 6 games

1. Who is the best player in your organization? How was he acquired? How long will he be on your roster?
That's fairly tough. I'd probably say that Raul Ferrer is my best player but that Kenny Ibarra is my most valuable. Ferrer was actually a throw-in with the Villarreal trade with Baltimore and he exploded into becoming a superstar. I'd love to say that I predicted it, but it was mostly luck. As far as Ibarra, I traded a king's ransom for him. I traded two firsts (turned into Ed Vanden Hurk and Marvin Melton, neither of whom look great), Sergio Jimenez (an excellent young closer), Manny Rivera (one of the best young shortstops in the game), Armando Gonzalez (who has grown into a high-quality starter), Tom McKerchar (who looks like he may not develop) and Juan Velasco (who I immediately got back in the Rule V draft). To this day I look at that trade and wonder if I gave up too much. But it's hard to put a price on having an ace when you're a championship contender, and Ibarra is definitely that.
2. Are there any active Spring Training battles happening to determine spots on or alignment of the opening day active roster?
Spring Training just a free 30 games to give players reps at positions they wouldn't normally get. I don't pay much attention to their stats.
3. What is your team's biggest strength?
Huh. I actually think we're pretty fantastic everywhere. Our best three bats (Raul Ferrer, Jorge Salazar and Bill White) are probably as good (at least bat-wise) as any top three in the league. Our top four starters (Kenny Ibarra, Javier Arrerondo, Jose Nunez and Andrew Bell) are certainly as good as anyone else's. And our bullpen has two stud closers now (Matt Hines and Curtis Bates) along with a solid stable of strong relievers behind them. So . . . I don't know? I guess I'd say that at the intersection of a front-loaded rotation and a dual-closer bullpen my biggest strength is optimization for the playoffs.
4. Where is your team's biggest weakness?
Probably fielding. In order to make room for Bill White at DH, Raul Ferrer is moving to 2B (which he can play, but not well). My 3B is probably going to be Juan Velasco (I'm letting Siu and Hernandez develop a bit more since I don't think I need them). Velasco can hit well, but he is not a good fielder. And while we're at it, Travis Steele is a good hitter (vR) for a shortstop, but he is not a particularly strong shortstop. My outfield should be fine, and my catchers are good, but my infield defense is going to be fairly porous.
5. How far is this season's major league squad going to go?
I would like to think that I've got a bye pretty much locked up. However the NL East goes, 100+ wins is really unlikely for the winner. The NL South has a lot of good teams, and (given variation) the winner will probably win 95-98 games. The Padres and Giants are the two biggest challengers to me (according to my sheet) and either could win 100-105 games, but only one can get a bye. My sheet pegs me at 105 wins (actually, it pegs me at 108 but I had to adjust down for prior overperformance) and that was before I added Curtis Bates. I could totally miss a bye, but I think we're looking at sub-20% chance.
6. Who is your biggest rival? What is the history of that rivalry?
My biggest rival is the increasing salary of my young studs. I've got to build a budget faster than they want raises. And if I fail to keep them, I need to build around their replacements effectively. How well I handle *that* rival will determine a lot.
But as far as teams . . . Washington knocked me out last year, but that's one year. The Padres knocked me out the year before in the NLCS. I guess I'd say the Padres if I'm picking anyone, since they're the gold standard of NL dominance for the last 5-9 years and basically the team I'm hoping to replace.
7. What is your PBL World series prediction? Participants, winner and number of games.
Playoffs are random as heck. But if it's the most probable teams, I'm picking Texas and Milwaukee. At first I was going to pick Houston (because they're the 2nd best team in the AL and are the best constructed for the playoffs) but if Texas wins the division Houston has to fight through an extra round, which negates their superior playoff construction. I'd like to say that I'll win because I think I'm the best team in the PBL, but I'll probably get knocked out in the NLDS. Because you know, playoffs.

1. Who is the best player in your organization? How was he acquired? How long will he be on your roster?
Sifaks Ben Hassi acquired by grace of god-actually the Rule V draft. Just signed a 9 year extension although he can opt out after 3.
2. Are there any active Spring Training battles happening to determine spots on or alignment of the opening day active roster?
Yes we have a huge scrum of players competing for the 4th and 5th spots of my rotation. In the mix we have the Rule V guy Bob Brown, the bright young prospect Domingo Silva, the 30 year old prospect Pepe Martines, recently acquired in a trade Francisco Ruiz, the Minor League free agents Dave Burgess and Ming-Feng Zhang and the Out of Options last chance Albert Hale.
3. What is your team's biggest strength?
Our young athletic outfield. Kong Kuang, Miguel Angel Andrade and Kenkichi Okada are all outstanding defensive outfielders with live bats.
4. Where is your team's biggest weakness?
Scoring Runs. The Warhounds have 5 solid hitters with Hassi, Andrade, Okada, Kuang and Jimmy Green but the rest of the lineup is full of holes and question marks. I'm hoping that newcomers Orlando Gonzalez and Fernando Gonzalez can put positive numbers up in place of those question marks.
5. How far is this season's major league squad going to go?
I have managed to build a monument to mediorcrity in Carolina , generally near .500 occasionally grab the second wildcard, but never seriously contend. This season expect more of the same - 80 wins
6. Who is your biggest rival? What is the history of that rivalry?
Anyone and Everyone in the NL South. I have seem each of them win division titles while I have none so yeah I hate them all!.....Just kidding I actually respect them all. This is a good point to mention that the NLS is the most underrated division in the PBL consistently sending multiple teams to the post season.
7. What is your PBL World series prediction? Participants, winner and number of games. Hmmmm ......I like Shane to start a new dynasty in Houston beating the Great San Diego Padres in 6

1. Who is the best player in your organization? How was he acquired? How long will he be on your roster? I would say my best player the past couple of seasons has been CF Juan Silva. Signed him to a 6 year $16M/yr contract without ever seeing him play and has worked out. 39 HR/ 80 RBI, 3.9 WAR in first season and followed that up with 42 HR(league leader), 97 RBI/ 5.2 WAR. Has a Rookie of the Year, Gold Golve, All Star Appearance, and Platinum stick in his first two years..........however........that was the past. My best "rated" player is SS Manny Rivera who busted on the scene last season and played 76 games putting up 17 2B, 5 3B, 16 HR, 40 RBI........ .279/.324/.525 and 2.8 WAR and is expected to take over the title of best player in org this season.
2. Are there any active Spring Training battles happening to determine spots on or alignment of the opening day active roster? I would say my roster was decided going into ST and continuing to develop players and determine who the backups would be was the main goal of ST.
3. What is your team's biggest strength? I would say my bullpen as I believe we were the top BP in the NL last year, led by CL Chance Wall and his 42 saves 1.48 ERA / 0.90 WHIP. Rest of the supporting cast was great as well.
4. Where is your team's biggest weakness? I would say defense. Though we do have a lot of great defenders on our roster, my tendency is to favor bats in the lineup if it means downgrading a defensive position a bit.
5. How far is this season's major league squad going to go?
Last season's team won 83 games and missed out by 7 of the WC. The goal for this year is to try and get 88-90 and at least be in the conversation for a WC during that last sim of the season.
6. Who is your biggest rival? What is the history of that rivalry? I wouldn't say I have a biggest rival. Our division tends to beat up each other a lot and I enjoy my series with the Reds and Cards........but have to set a goal to try and get Milwaukee. I know we are a long ways away from them (23 game spread last year), but to continue to reduce that gap each year is a good goal right now.
7. What is your PBL World series prediction? Participants, winner and number of games. This could be a fun year. I'm going to say Milwaukee gets in this year and we have a "family battle" vs. Cleveland. Milwaukee wins it in game 7 on an 11th inning walkoff.

1. Who is the best player in your organization? How was he acquired? How long will he be on your roster?
In theory it's Jose Varquez, who I threw a boatload of money at in international free agency ten years ago. He's only 26, and he'll be around for a while. In practice it's probably still Raymond Page, who's entering his seventh season in Washington after coming over in a trade with the Dodgers. He's under contract for two more years with a team option for the third that I'm hoping to exercise. Actually I'd like to just keep giving him extensions until he gets bored of hitting or something.
2. Are there any active Spring Training battles happening to determine spots on or alignment of the opening day active roster?
The back end of the rotation was up for grabs. The plan for now is to go with hard throwing top prospect Ismael Garcia, then throw everyone's timing off with knuckleball/changeup specialist Manuel Reyes. There's no clear winner for that last spot, but there's plenty of organizational depth there, so we should be able to make it work.
3. What is your team's biggest strength?
Power. We're usually near the top of the league in HRs. There's no one with crazy high ratings, but pretty much every regular is capable of hitting 20 in any given season.
4. Where is your team's biggest weakness?
Nothing really stands out actually. Not that we're invincible or great everywhere, but after the acquisition of Tony Padilla there's no one position that sticks out as a problem. As I mentioned in my season preview, OOTP thinks my weakness is Chris Allen in RF. Since I can't think of Chris Allen as a weakness, I'll say team speed.
5. How far is this season's major league squad going to go?
I'll go with NLCS, same as last year.
6. Who is your biggest rival? What is the history of that rivalry?
The Padres. I think we covered the history pretty well last year, but over the last eight years we've combined for seven NL pennants, and split four playoff series. They got the better of us last year, and have frankly been more dominant in that stretch, but I can settle for being the foil to greatness. I'm still mad at the White Sox for taking us out in back-to-back World Series Game 7s, but it's hard to keep an interleague rivalry going.
7. What is your PBL World series prediction? Participants, winner and number of games.
Brewers are the trendy and possibly correct pick, but that's boring. Rangers over Braves in 6.

1. Who is the best player in your organization? How was he acquired? How long will he be on your roster? It's a tough one, but I gotta go with Manny Sanchez. He's got a career 2.97 ERA, 1.01 WHIP, 1,642 strikeouts and a 37.4 WAR in 8 seasons. Originally just a reliever, he saw a ratings bump in the late 40s and the rest is history. Sanchez was aquired in 2044 in a trade with the Reds in an apparent salary dump for SP Robbie Gill. Sanchez is signed through 2062.
2. Are there any active Spring Training battles happening to determine spots on or alignment of the opening day active roster? The starting 9 was pretty set, but there was some positioning battles going on. Like could Jack MacGruder hit against lefties at all (he can't and went 0-15 in ST), so Walt Woodland will start in LF. There were also some bullpen spots being fought for and went to the veteran Aaron Vernon.
3. What is your team's biggest strength?
Pitching by far. K/9 is a highly sought after commodity in SD.
4. Where is your team's biggest weakness?
The flip side to the K/9 is defense and it is by far our greatest weakness.
5. How far is this season's major league squad going to go?
Hopefully all the way. I think we are a top 2 team in the NL, so it's NLCS or bust. After that, well, we've learned that the WS is a tough nut to crack, going 1-3 just in the past few years.
6. Who is your biggest rival? What is the history of that rivalry?
Easy, it's the Nationals. The route to the World Series has been through either the Padres or Nationals the past 8 seasons. On top of that, there were a number of recent seasons where we opened the season against the Nationals. I always look forward to that opening day matchup of Sanchez vs. Robles. It's too bad we can't play more games against each other.
7. What is your PBL World series prediction? Participants, winner and number of games.
It's a battle between the Nationals and Rangers with the Nationals winning in 6.

1. Who is the best player in your organization? How was he acquired? How long will he be on your roster?
The premier position player in our organization is MVP Alfonso Salgado, our captain. Salgado was acquired as a prospect in a massive trade with Kansas City. In the deal, we acquired a starting pitching prospect who we thought would become one of three top-tier starters when our rebuilding effort reached the stage where we could compete for a playoff berth. The starter fizzled, but Salgado blossomed into one of the premier players in the PBL. We recently inked a deal with Scotty that will have him wearing the orange and black for another nine years.
Our premier pitcher is SP Enrique Vazquez, who is one of the most popular players to play in San Francisco. We traded him to Kansas City while he was in his prime. Then, after he pitched for the Royals for five seasons, we reacquired him. The fans were delighted. Last season, however, he missed the 2nd half of the season after putting up Cy Young quality stats in 16 starts. Clearly the front office and the fans are looking forward to a few more outstanding seasons as he approaches retirement. This season he should reach the 200 career wins mark as he continues to accumulate a HOF worthy resume.
2. Are there any active Spring Training battles happening to determine spots on or alignment of the opening day active roster?
Spring training battles were minimal. Rather, the emphasis was on integrating off-season acquisitions. 2B Rory Strong and SS Kurt Wood learned to work together around the second sack. SP/RP Pedro Perez pitched very well, but we still are uncertain in which role he will be more effective.
Also, returning youngster CF Todd Williamson continued to become comfortable patrolling center field and becoming more comfortable and productive facing PBL-level pitching.
3. What is your team's biggest strength?
Our biggest strengths probably are our balance, depth, and flexibility. The front office team worked hard during the winter months to upgrade in the middle infield and add pitching depth to help us weather storms caused by injuries. We believe we achieved the objective. All things considered, however, we would rather that our guys avoid serious injuries.
4. Where is your team's biggest weakness?
Our squad could use more power hitters, but we have many players who make good contact and are pretty adept at avoiding strikeouts. We may not hit as many home runs as some teams, but by consistently putting the ball in play we should be able to overcome mediocre home run power. With big parks in San Diego and Los Angeles, gap power may even be as important as home run power.
5. How far is this season's major league squad going to go?
We feel we have the strongest roster in recent memory. We believe we have the talent to advance to the World Series ... with some luck. To do so, we need to best another outstanding team down in San Diego. On the east coast, Washington also looks especially deep and talented. Further, Milwaukee, Atlanta, and Miami are loaded with talent and should have productive seasons.
6. Who is your biggest rival? What is the history of that rivalry?
Our biggest rival is the NL West trio of the Padres, Dodgers, and D'backs. Throughout the last three decades, each has peaked when we have had strong teams. Our teams do a great job of finishing 2nd and making the playoffs, but we seem to come up short battling for the division title. Right now, our target is San Diego. Will this be the year that we knock them down a notch while capturing the NL West title? We hope so.
7. What is your PBL World series prediction? Participants, winner and number of games.
Washington Nationals defeat the Texas Rangers in 6 games.
[P.S. I posted this without reading the above submissions. I can't believe Rich and I picked the same WS teams and outcome. Clearly, we must have inside information.]

1. Who is the best player in your organization? How was he acquired? How long will he be on your roster?
Will Ortega is a promising young player, that requires some luck to reach his potential. If he does, he will be the best player in Toronto. I traded a promising young pitcher, solid RP and a versatile home run hitter who can play the OF or 1B. I have him for another 5+ years, so I'm going to keep running him out there until he disintegrates or reaches stardom. One of the two should happen, ultimately.
2. Are there any active Spring Training battles happening to determine spots on or alignment of the opening day active roster?
There are! I mean, the level of talent is between shit and dog-shit on this team, so the battle was REAL in determining the type of feces each player will be bucketed into. The suspense can be cut by a dog shit knife!
3. What is your team's biggest strength?
I will predict we will be top 5 in base running in the AL. We have many players who have great speed and cunning base running skills to take extra bases when the situation presents itself.
4. Where is your team's biggest weakness?
We have a thin, young rotation that will give up their fair share of home runs. If we suffer any serious injuries, we will be in trouble. My young talented arms are just not ready to face the professional hitters who take quality at-bats in the PBL. We won't hit for average as a team, so we will rely on on-base skills with the hitter batting eye. Those will be two big weaknesses hard to overcome.
5. How far is this season's major league squad going to go?
More than 44 wins, if we get a little luck. That was last year's win total, but we carried a minus (-) 11 pythag last year. I suspect we are a 53 win team on paper but with a little luck, we might sneak out a few more than expected.
6. Who is your biggest rival? What is the history of that rivalry?
Hahahahahaha. If i carried a chip on my shoulder everywhere I went, then any team that wins the series against us is my rival. But, let's be fair, ain't no one worried about us at the moment. lol I do hope we have a series against the Expos this season and battle it out for the bragging rights to the country's best baseball team. lol
7. What is your PBL World series prediction? Participants, winner and number of games. Milwaukee/Texas at first blush seems like the logical choice. That said, we always see a surprise or two each season when a team goes further than expected. So my pick is Tampa Bay to make the WS, to face off against the Miami Marlins. Tampa takes it in 6 games.

1. Who is the best player in your organization? How was he acquired? How long will he be on your roster?
SP Raul Herrera (I think I mentioned him last year). He was drafted, of course, which is how we do things in Montreal. Still has the makings of an ace down the road, though he has dropped from #1 to #8 prospect in PBL to start this season. I moved him up to A- last season and he did struggle a bit. He's one of those 5-Stars with a currently suspect change-up. If/When it develops, he'll top my rotation for years, hopefully after we have turned the corner and contend?
2. Are there any active Spring Training battles happening to determine spots on or alignment of the opening day active roster?
Not a whole lot, though we have pitching depth and I will be shuttling several up and down through the season to find the right combination that might win a few games.
3. What is your team's biggest strength?
Tough to say, we are, and have always been, more of a "team" than a couple of superstars surrounded by complimentary talent. If all of my "team" ever click together, we might make some noise.
4. Where is your team's biggest weakness?
The last answer, reversed. If we do not click as a "team" then we'll again battle mediocrity.
5. How far is this season's major league squad going to go?
Honestly, if we get some positive breaks, I hope we can be there for a wild card, finally.
6. Who is your biggest rival? What is the history of that rivalry?
Still have to say it's New York. While the Phillies and, long ago, the Pirates have consistently beat us up, I have long considered the Mets to be the barometer against which I judge our progress. The Mets have changed hands and certainly showed up last season. We'll try to change that, while also battling Philadelphia and Pittsburgh.
7. What is your PBL World series prediction? Participants, winner and number of games. Never discount the Yankees. They can always both field and team and find a way to incorporate a last piece to their roster for a deep run in the post-season. I see NYY and Milwaukee at the end this season and the Yankees prevail in seven, hard fought, games.

1. Who is the best player in your organization? How was he acquired? How long will he be on your roster? 2B Hidetsugu Fujii A ball #9 top prospect - Acquired from Padres in 2054, I'm hoping he will be on our major league roster in 2058
2. Are there any active Spring Training battles happening to determine spots on or alignment of the opening day active roster? We have 4 pitchers battling for our #4 & #5 rotation spots, hopefully 2 will step up between Jon Fields, Manuel Saldana, & J.J. Smith
3. What is your team's biggest strength? Our team defense should be very solid this season, also the bullpen on the back end should be very good, I hope
4. Where is your team's biggest weakness? Development or acquiring of a solid catcher, our catchers in our whole system is below par, I have a few that I have drafted but they have not developed like I would like so far
5. How far is this season's major league squad going to go? Would like to play 10 games over .500 and sneak in the playoffs (fingers cross)
6. Who is your biggest rival? What is the history of that rivalry? This is my 2nd full season as the GM of the Mets, but I have to say that I enjoy big time beating Chip's Phillies
7. What is your PBL World series prediction? Participants, winner and number of games. Rich's Padres vs Danny's Rangers in World series - This will be Danny's Rangers year to win it all - series goes 7 games and the Rangers win it all

1. Who is the best player in your organization? How was he acquired? How long will he be on your roster?
Well last season's team MVP was definitely Jose Cabral. But Jorge Fuentes, now just 26 years old has been getting better every season. We expect to see improvements on last seasons career highs of 37 HR, 96 RBI and 4.6 WAR. Cabral joined the team via a trade with Toronto and Fuentes was a lucky IFA scout find. Cabral will be around for at least 2 more seasons before he has an opt out option in his contract. Fuentes is not eligible for a multi year extension until after this season. So, how pricey that will be will obviously have a pretty big impact on where he'll end up.
2. Are there any active Spring Training battles happening to determine spots on or alignment of the opening day active roster?
Typically I just use ST to develop. But this off season Peterson was moved to Minnesota in an effort to address the dismal defensive efficiency from last season. Possibly unwisely as there was really no back up plan at second base. So, this ST three qualified fielders but questionable bats battled for the opening day start. 24 year old Hector Rosario was the only one of the trio able to bat above .150 but he played fairly well. He'll be the guy out of the gates but expect a lot of hot hand rotation at second for the entire season.
3. What is your team's biggest strength?
Over the past few seasons it has been the starting offense. No real super stars but also no holes 1-9. Lots of guys that find ways to get on base. Hi OBP has really been the formula. Draw lots of walks and just always have guys on base when the extra base hits happen.
4. Where is your team's biggest weakness?
The rotation. It's not the worse in the league but the pressure is always on the offense to outscore the other guy. Two or three runs is rarely enough to get it done. Hoping some defensive upgrades helps to drop that babip and give the starters some help.
5. How far is this season's major league squad going to go?
I think we are a bubble team. I hope to be in the mix for the second wild card down the stretch. If we can squeak into the playoffs anything can happen. Looking in the rear view mirror at three strait one and dones, all going the series distance and loosing the deciding game, I can hope the law of averages can do it's thing to launch us into the second round. Hard to see us going much further than that though.
6. Who is your biggest rival? What is the history of that rivalry?
100% the Nats. They have owned the NL South as long as anyone can remember. Even considering their current extensive two season streak of not winning the division, they've remained right in the mix. They are the king of the division and will have their games circled on the schedule hanging in the Marlins locker room for the foreseeable future.
7. What is your PBL World series prediction? Participants, winner and number of games.
Smart money is Milwaukee/Texas. But I have never been a smart better. You heard it here first. Twins are going to beat the Mets in 5!
