Also. Royals are on record that they do not want any name changes. But in honor of the tens, growing quickly towards hundreds of texts, direct messages and phone calls about Patrick Mahomes latest exploit he is flooding me with I am executing Commissioner Privilege to name his Rookie league the Chieftown NoLooks.

Some teams obviously missed or ignored the repeated communication and notification I provided that this contraction was happening. I am torn on how to proceed. I do not have an abundance of sympathy for those teams. At the same time I have some concern that a GM could decide to leave the league as a result of losing multiple specs of this caliber and this blow to the farm system would have a significant impact on whoever takes over. I would expect some of these specs to receive huge signing bonus's and/or contracts and I do not want to have to consider rolling back those transactions after the fact. Honestly, at this point I do not know what will end up happening. So what I am going to do right now is move these players onto the Marlins Rookie roster. This is a holding place only. I guarantee none of these players will be in my organization when Spring Training begins. I also will not receive any assets or compensation for them. 4 teams have been identified as significantly impacted. Let me reach out to those GMs and get a feel for their mindset. I will seek input from the league on how we want to proceed, and sometime in the next week or so those players will be moved off of my roster and either back into the FA pool or wherever we decide their home should be. Here is a list of the players that will be moved to Marlins rookie roster: SP Kenny Ibarra CL Alex Schmidt CL Yoshimatsu Koizuno CF Conan Davis SP Zack Henderson RP Felix Baraja SP Reginald Ford SP Juan Perez SP Francisco Rodriguez RP Carlos Vazquez 2B David Bloxom RP Bobby Nelson SS Julio Tirres

just some quick feedback Ron. You provided ample information about this. You told us a few times when this would happen. You made a list of all the teams effected. You explained what happens if players were on these rosters. There isn't anything more you could have done. I understand life an get in the way. I have sympathy for people this effected, but i took the time to alter my rosters. As much as i hate to say it, and i understand how selfish it sounds, but i think this is what it is. I hope all gm's effected will stay and chalk this upto making a simple mistake.

Let me just add that it sucks that you have been put in this position. Whatever decision you make i will support and i hope others will to. It's not fair that something like this, which will effect multiple teams in the league, has fallen into your lap.

Everyone has a right to defend themselves and those are some impactful players that have been taken away from teams. I agree that they have had ample warning, however, I also agree with your next steps in messaging those affected to hear them out and give them another week to respond. Further ignoring the messages, however, leaves little doubt about a gm's commitment to the team and the league.

Rich makes a great point. Maybe give them the rest of this week to step up and acknowledge the error to you and make a case. If they can't even step up after the issue has happened …

For what it's worth, while I agree with what "Earl" said, these GM's and teams had ample time to review their minors and make the appropriate changes requested by the Commissioner in advance of "contraction" (and you would think that word might carry some weight?)...
But I also agree that the teams losing these players may be harmed (at least set back) by these losses. And if/when someone leaves, I feel bad for the next guy. But unless the solution is just to add them back to the org from which they came, it's a fact they lose them.
But, from a more personal perspective, as a team without the capacity to "bid" in the free market on what amounts to some studs, if they are just turned over the free agency, the rich will get richer. Which is unfortunate.
A radical suggestion, and I am not even sure if it is possible, but maybe they could be put back into the draft pool when it's revealed? That way everyone has "kind of" a fair shot at some impressive talent?

While I understand wanting to stick by the cutting of players, I don't think I can agree in this case. I don't think that when the Commish stated he would cut whoever was left on the contracted teams, that any of us imagined prospects of this caliber would be affected. There is a #2, #6 and #33 overall pick in that group, and although I think not paying attention to the boards/slack merits a penalty, that is simply too extreme for me.
I've mentioned this to the Commish, but I'd like to float it publicly too. Perhaps the penalty can come in the form of some sort of buyback. So the team that wants their players reinstated must surrender either a third round pick, or 350 Paramount credits (Since a supplemental pick between the 3rd and 4th is worth 300) as a fee for being careless. That feels fair.
