Hello All:
We're going to do the GCL again this year, but this time we're going to try something different: A 32-team tournament with real players. Mike Branda will be our commissioner again. At this time, I'd appreciate any corrections, such as new league reps and new league commissioner contacts. In addition, please let me know about any other leagues you think might be interested -- Even if every league from last year comes back, we'll still need several more reps to fill the 32 slots.
Real players will help us create some interest in the league, and doing a March Madness-style 32-team tournament will avoid the problems we've had in the past, where teams would fall out of the hunt by July or August and, as in real life, phone it in the rest of the way. Each round will be a best-of-9, and I hope everyone will get excited about their teams and plan out their strategies. Each sim will be 3 games. If you win your series, congrats, you move on -- If you lose, sorry, thanks for playing.
There will be more specifics to come.
One thing I will carry forward from last year, though, is the plan to tie this into the excitement about the next version of OOTP, with previews of the game tied into Twitch broadcasts of the tournament's championship series. We have a lot of great features planned again this year, along with some BIG NEWS that will definitely help us take the game to the next level. (You can probably guess what it is, but I will say nothing further on the subject, lest Markus unleash a team of ninjas to hunt me down.)
Look for our January newsletter to spill the beans. If you're not signed up, here's the link: www.ootpdevelopments.com/newsletter.php
Thanks!
