05/13/13 Boston (14-16, 9-9 Road) vs. Minnesota (12-20, 4-8 Home) Projected Starters: Bos: J. Lester (3-2, 5.21 ERA) Min: J. Verlander (1-2, 4.98 ERA)
Two of the more disappointing PBL teams square off this week trying not to fall too far behind their respective division leaders. The Sox find themselves five games behind a strong Rays team, and three behind Baltimore. The Twins see themselves in last place in the Central after a disastrous 3-16 start and are trying to claw their way out of the grave.
Justin Verlander has found the going rough in Minnesota, as his high ERA doesn't underscore the fact that he's also allowed five extra unearned runs. He's had a few strong games, shutting out the Rangers on one hit over eight innings and allowing only two runs over eight innings against the Tigers, but he's been hit hard in several other starts. One candidate behind Verlander's slow start---he didn't get many innings in spring training.
Jon Lester has also been a disappointment allowing eight home runs to start the yea, three to Delmon Young in a single start last week, as he was rocked in back-to-back outings by the Rays.
If either of these starters wants to step up and return to Cy Young Award candidate status, their teams will be very grateful.

Jon Lester got beat up again, Justin Verlander was pulled because of a rain delay, and the Sox bullpen came up big, holding the Twins scoreless over the final 7.2 innings. The Twins couldn't double up Kevin Youkilis on a potential double play ball plating the tying run in the 9th, and Carlos Beltran blasted a home run in the 10th that proved the difference.
Me and Cleveland tied on victor and run differential, but Fielder had an RBI while Arzeno didn't meaning I went 6-0 in my sim AND won the PBL Pick'em. Now that's a REAL bullseye!
Let's go with the D-Backs vs the Reds for this week's game.
