04/29/13 New York (10-8, Road: 6-6) vs. San Francisco (9-9, Home: 4-5) Projected Pitchers: NYM: LHP J.Niese (1-0, 3.44 ERA) SFG: RHP I.Kennedy (1-0, 2.19 ERA)
While there are certainly more fashionable picks for this week's Pick'em Game, New York at San Francisco represents an intriguing match-up.
The Mets are quietly going about business in the NL East, having worked their way to the top of the division with absolutely no fanfare. Jorge Cantu has started off his New York career with a bang, rapping off a .387/.439/.667 line through his first 18 games. New York's success will hinge on his continued production, and Chris Parmelee rediscovering his power stroke. Jonathan Niese will build off his last effort, a 17-6 obliteration of Miami, and will be facing the Giants for the first time this season.
The Giants have reworked their 2013 lineup, and while most pundits and beat writers have focused on the negatives, there are a few key additions that really help the club long-term. Rookie Ebert Rosario already looks like he's going to compete for Rookie of the Year, and has outplayed the departed Pablo Sandoval thus far. While Verlander was phenomenal for the Giants last year, his absence only affects the Giants every fifth day. So far, Ian Kennedy, Monday's starter, has had a promising start to the season and is proof positive that defense wins championships.

If Rob is picking against his team, I'm not going to fall for that... Giants 4 - Mets 3 (Parnell blows the save in the ninth by allowing a 2 run HR to MVP Watkins)
