We are on the eve of Thanksgiving an everyone knows that means we are 24-hours away from hysteria that is known as "BLACK FRIDAY" where all the crazies line up over night to get the best deals they can find. So to commemorate this craziness, the final promotion of 2011 with represent this tradition.. Its going to be very simple.... Nominate one of your player that gave you the BEST VALUE in 2011. Sure Albert Pujols put up amazing numbers but he got paid big money to perform that way. All players you nominate will be considered, more consideration will be given to those picked up off the scrap pile.. The award is: $1,000,000 to an American League Club, and $1,000,000 to a National League Club Winner will be announced before 1st round of playoffs, on BLACK FRIDAY!!!

Dustin Ackley - Hit .342 19 HR 97 RBI's as a 23 year old, 57.9 VORP (making only 400k) for a 5th place Braves team.
2nd in the Majors with 216 Hits. 4th in the Majors with his .342 AVG.
Nobody else did anything, hence why the Braves finished 22 games under .500.

Best value? Pablo Sandoval, 89.6 VORP whilst on league minimum. It's hard to see how anyone else could get it in the NL

Because Sandoval is in the running for MVP and with his ratings he was expected to put up solid numbers. He could very well win this award, but anything is possible.
You know when you rush out to buy that $300 christmas gift because your kid/girl, etc wanted it so bad and to fill the stocking you by that $5 toy in the check out aisle and the kid plays with it non-stop. That is value, somethign you didn't expect and its a major hit....

I guess Dexter Fowler. His ratings weren't this high earlier in the year, and after a pretty average 2010, I didn't expect this at all from him.
If he's excluded, then I nominate...err...I guess Arthur Rhodes.

I don't really see the point in this if top prospects are eligible tbh. I mean, aren't they expected to do well even if they are on a 400k salary?
SP Kevin Correia, W/L 15-8, ERA 3.97, IP 202, WHIP 1.19.
Signed during the off season for 2Y/920k. His ratings at the time we're 6-7-6.
2B Elian Herrera, AB 482, HR 26, RBI 80, .290/.377/.498/.875
He was a nothing prospects at the start of the season with 6-5-6 ratings. I hope he gets some Rookie of the year consideration.

I don't really see the point in this if top prospects are eligible tbh. I mean, aren't they expected to do well even if they are on a 400k salary?. Everybody is eligible. Your correct, most top prospects are supposed to do well but some not as soon as they are. Same things with guys with great ratings. Having an 8 in contact means your guy should at least hit over .300 but all that is taken into consideration. In the end, I am looking for biggest bargain, since that is what Black Friday is all about. In the end, I think the right players will be rewarded. Of the NL Players listed so far, the list is narrowed down to two, if others join the fray then we will compare them but I think the results will show what a true bargain we are looking for.

No diamonds in the rough this season. We gave virtually every middle infielder and third baseman in our upper minors the chance to make a difference and they all sucked. Most underachieved and nobody really performed better than expected. No nominations from Oakland.

Freddy Garcia. I picked him up for a minimum contract after Aroldis Chapman went down and figured I would pit him against Pat Misch for the fifth spot in the rotation. He ended up pitching lights out for 14 starts and had 7 wins with a 2.94 ERA. Losing Chapman that early in the year could have been a much bigger loss without Freddy Garcia. Now that I have also lost my ace, Aaron Harang, we are going to see if Garcia can keep it going as the fourth starter in the playoffs!
