The respective leagues are their own thing. All that matters is that you're good enough to make the playoffs, get the bye, whatever, in your own league. There's only one time of the year when it actually matters. The World Series. And since that's coming up, I thought I'd give that a look. It may or may not come as a surprise to anyone, but the AL has absolutely smoked the NL in interleague play. In games between the leagues, the AL teams outscored their opponents by a whopping 0.49 runs per game. They won 54.7% of those games, meaning that if the *average* AL team played nobody but NL opponents, they'd finish around 88-89 wins. What would the league look like if, instead of the AL/NL split, they were in only one 32-team league? Attached are some fun tables built off of Team WAR adjusted for league environment. They aren't meant to be taken too seriously - merely topics of interest, and setting the stage for the World Series preview tomorrow. Attachments:
