Let's take a look back 10 seasons- the 2049 Draft
And With the First Pick- The Seattle Mariners take 1B- Jude Herbert. Herbert was a solid pick as he has become a fixture in Seattle since making his PBL debut in 2053 averaging 29 homers with a .353 on base percentage.
Best Career (So Far)- Too close to call between Pitchers Robert Haynes taken number 25 by the Diamondbacks and Kelly Nunez drafted number 28 by the Nationals. Haynes has made his name with the ChiSox as a 2 time All Star and had 2 post season wins on the ‘53 World Championship team. Nunez made his big league debut in less than a year from being drafted. He has spent his entire career in Washington and has won the NL Reliever of the Year award and twice been named to the All Star Team.
Biggest Bust- The Rockies chose Center fielder Manny Mojica with the 4th pick in the draft. Mojica was the highest pick in the draft to not make it to the show.
Great Value- The Tigers found a solid player in the 4th round, grabbing Raul Vera with the 137th pick. A two time All Star with four Gold Gloves, Vera even has a batting crown with his 2057 .323 batting average.
Last Man Standing- He waited and waited, but his patience paid off when the Royals called the name Jorge “Jerky’ Munoz in the 15th round with 474th pick. The left handed hitting catcher then toiled in the minor leagues year after the year until getting up to Kansas City in ‘57 and last season he got into 31 games with the Blue Jays
Best Overall Draft- The Tigers had 13 players they selected climb into the PBL ranks. Along with the aforementioned Vera they also selected 1B- Cole Parra in the 1st round, 3B- Chris Gomez later in the 1st, catcher Gabriel Tapia in the 3rd and pitcher Felipe Pagan also in the 3rd round.
Look forward to seeing all of you back here before next season when we look back at the 2050 draft.

Nunez has been great for me, but the rest of this class needs to step up their game if a reliever is outproducing them.
