We don't really have any content that focuses on the minors, so hopefully this can provide a bit of coverage.
The criteria is pretty objective, potential upgrade over the 2057 season. This article will focus on the positive (risers) on the PBL universe. If there is enough interest, I can do the negative (fallers), but generally people prefer to read about stuff going up.
1. 1B Rob Dotson - Mobile (AA) Arizona
He had a pretty good year in AA, with a .393 wOBA and cutting his strikeout rate down to almost 13%. The potential went on a tear however. We will see if his lack of intelligence prevents him from hitting his ceiling, which is now the best hitter in the PBL universe.
2. SP Jesse Coernraadts - Kingport (Rookie) NY Mets
The 2056 discovery got his first taste of rookie ball and went from a nothing to a mid-level prospect. Fueling this was a +2 MPH on the fastball. He still needs a lot of refinement, but he is only 18. He must be a great student of the game as he only logged a whopping 6 innings in 2057
3.SP Jose Esparza - Int Complex Wash.
Our second of the top three risers who grade low on the intelligence. He could make his stateside debut this coming season. Reports indicate Jose is a hard worker, but time will tell if he can harness the potential.
4. 1B Jim Stout - AAA Salt Lake City LAA
Stout found new life at age 27 in AAA and was traded by the Angels to Arizona for SP Kirk Gilbert. Notable improvements in his hit tool and eye fueled his development as he doubled his walk rate from the prior year. Arizona has Dotson trying to learn third base, otherwise Stout's hold on 1st won't last long.
5. P Ricardo Valdez - Int Complex Carolina
Valdez's stock had fallen prior to the 2057 season, but a major increase in velocity has moved Valdez to the #75 PBL prospect ranking and into Carolina's long term plans.
