With Hammack and Strong dealt, I'm adding two more names, of different characteristics.
Antonio Aguilera is 25, still making the minimum (for another three years), can play every infield (and every outfield) position at a high level and is a 6/6/5 righty. I'm not saying he's the sexiest player ever, but he's at minimum an average middle infielder, and I think he could be better for the right team.
Carlos Gutierrez is on the block. He was my #2 all season last year, putting up 5 WAR (8.4 WAR and 33 wins over the last two years). He's a fan favorite, he's popular, he's 9/6/7 and he'd be the ace of most of the teams in the league. And did I mention that he's only 29, with a very team-friendly contract? "But John!" you may say, "Why are you selling him if he's so good?" Frankly, it's because acquiring Bell last year gave me five excellent starters, and it isn't efficient to keep that many. And I'm poor and will need to be extending Jorge Salazar next year, and that means I need to make sure my money is in order. If I were the Yankees, Gutierrez wouldn't be sniffing the block. But I'm the Brewers, and I gotta do what I gotta do.
I'm honestly not sure what the market for Aguilera is. But for Gutierrez, he definitely merits a sansterre-style auction.
Please reach out and let me know of your interest and we'll figure something out!
