Only discussing teams whose odds have changed by 5% or more since the start of the season
Philadelphia Phillies + 22.3% (to 62.7%) The Phillies opened 8-4 with a two game lead over the division and posted the 5th highest WAR so far.
Cleveland Indians -19.9% (to 60.9%) The Indians opened 5-7, five games behind the White Sox, and have posted the 28th highest WAR so far. And Alfredo Sanchez will be out for most of the season. Besides that, things are going great.
New York Mets -15.5% (to 23.0%) The Mets opened 5-7 with the 22nd WAR and are three games behind the Phillies already.
Chicago White Sox +8.7% (to 99.0%) The White Sox opened red hot, going 10-2 and posting the #3 WAR in the league.
Carolina Warhounds +8.2% (to 39.1%) The Warhounds only opened 7-5, but have a +18 run differential (3rd best in the league) and have the #6 WAR so far. Also, Washington hasn't looked great so far (6-6, negative run differential) so the door is being left a little open.
Tampa Bay Rays +6.6% (to 41.9%) How could a team that opened 5-7 see their playoff odds go up? First, their WAR is secretly good (#8 so far). And secondly? My sheet thinks that Tampa Bay is the #7 team in the AL. And Cleveland's loss is their gain.
Miami Marlins +5.2% (to 49.5%) The Marlins have opened 7-5 with the #7 WAR in the league, while the Nationals are courteously giving everyone a head start. At the same time, neither Cincinnati nor Milwaukee have looked great, suggesting there may be some extra room in the Wild Card race.
