I've been working on a project this off season and have developed from scratch a custom, 32 team schedule. It is locked, loaded and ready to implement if that is what the league wants to do.
I decided to do full inter-league play. This was mostly out of laziness. If all divisions are played I can make one schedule, then just flip the home/away games and alternate between the two every season. For some people this will probably be the biggest con. I totally get that it may be too much inter-league for some people.
The verified details:
1 series vs each inter-league team. 16 teams X 3 games = 48
2 series vs each inner-league team outside of division. 12 teams x 6 games = 72
2 three game series and 2 four game series in division. 3 teams x 14 games = 42
Never more than 13 games without an off day.
No team will ever have more than 1 game played more or less than all other teams.
Season that begins April 1 will end October 2.
All star break included.
All off days are Mondays and Thursdays. Everyone plays on the highest gate days (Fri,Sat,Sun)
I worked on this for two reasons. 1) It appealed to my puzzle/project pleased geek brain. 2) Several GMs have expressed their dislike of the schedules we have been playing. I can get into more detail with the problems the current schedules have and my failed attempts to improve them if people want.
So, I did put a lot of work into this but that is not a reason to do it. It will not bother me at all if this vote does not pass. For the upcoming season this is the only alternative available. If we do not adopt it then it is another season of what we've had (which is fine). If people prefer to wait until I can come up with 8 schedules that iterate through each inter-league division and do home and away I can do that too. I am just not going to make any promises as to when I will have that available. That is not a threat in any way, simply that I do not want to commit to anything I can't come through on. Another option could be to not do inter-league. That I could turn around quicker. Seems a shame in an online league though not to be able to face off against another GM ever unless both teams make the series.
Finally, if this poll does pass, we will vote on it again next off season on whether or not to keep it.
This poll will take 75% positive to pass. Proxy votes will be cast to Yes
