The feedback on the draft experience in Stats+ was pretty overwhelmingly positive. I would like to leverage the options of this tool to take the draft to the next level. We now have the ability to schedule draft times. Space between picks can vary per round. All draft times would be scheduled at the beginning of the draft so there will be no need of notifications or reminders. No one will be taken by surprise.
This is a change vote so 75% Yes is required to adopt it. Although I honestly do not see a downside. There certainly may be an aspect that is not occurring to me. So, please, if you do vote no I would love an update to this thread to describe the thinking.
I think there are generally 3 categories of drafters and I believe this structure supports the full functionality of all 3.
1. Those that want to control their picks. Again, picks will be scheduled far in advance so you will know exactly what your deadline is to get your pick in well in advance.
2. Those that want to draft off of short lists. The site supports lists as long as you want to make them. You can edit and modify the lists as you wish for the duration of the draft.
3. Those that want or need auto picks. You can let the site pick for you now with the benefit of not holding up the draft.
Additionally, you can move back and forth between these categories. I will likely wait until shortly before my pick is going to be due for the first 4-5 rounds, then do the analysis and put my pick it at my time. For the next 10ish rounds I will probably have a "short" list for the system to draft from. Then I will likely just go with an auto pick for the late rounds.
I will have to do the math once the sim schedule for the time of the draft runs to figure out how much time we have. But I am thinking that the draft will run 10-12 hours a day. Probably 1 hour between picks the first round, 1/2 hour for the next couple rounds, then every 15 minutes from there out.
Benefits - Those that wish can actually control all 25 draft picks. Those that do not don't have to. Every GM can be as involved as they want to be with no impact to everyone else. There is no waiting or holding the draft up if people are not available or engaged. It will be much easier for me to simply import the draft results instead of manually entering them. It will be more accurate. Us humans sometimes mess up this manual stuff.
Like I said, I am not seeing any cons. Speak up if I missed some.
