I am going to try something new this season. Instead of taking a couple of sims off after the playoffs finish I want to start the off season discussion here just before the playoffs start and get polls up during the playoffs. I realize there is a chance that this may take focus off of the playoffs, but it seems to me that many people (myself included before I was a commissioner) tune out if their team is not in playoffs until they are done. Maybe this approach in the end would actually bring more attention? We can try it out this season and see how it goes.
Here are my items for off season discussion. Individual polls will go up for each soon and discussion can ensue on those threads. Feel free to post other ideas here or in a private message to me.
1. Paramounts Credits program. We need to first establish if this is a program the league wants. If so, a follow up discussion will happen to determine what items credits can be spent on.
2. Amateur draft. I would like to implement a full 25 round draft of Stats+ that will use early published scheduled time slots.
3. I would like to discuss the OOTP setting "Overall rating based on all players, not positions". I, for one, am tired of seeing sub average to poor players given 5 stars because their position is set to LF or 3B.
I think that completes my current agenda. Let me know if there are other things to bring to the table.

OOTP 19?
Whether the rules are actually edited or not (less words the better imho), a couple of NEW 19 settings could be implemented (basically further enforcing what are currently "house rules"):
1) Minimum team option bonus - checked and 25% 2) Recently drafted players cannot be traded until next off-season - checked

I like this Yes, it is an option that we may explore. In v.18, I think 2B is the other "soft" position. I have experimented a bit with position changes in v.19. I have noticed (anecdotal evidence) that the star ratings change very little, or not at all, when a player's primary position is changed. Overall, star ratings seem to be lower for many players. Perhaps this is an adjustment to what seemed to me to be inflated star ratings in v.18. I think we should take a close look at what exists after we upgrade to v.19 - after this season, I hope. I am fine with either setting as the basis for star ratings.

If there’s any new features in ootp19 or other “settings?” that y’all have seen out there please speak up!
After seeing how cool stats+ and slack have been I can’t help but wonder what else is out there in the ootp universe.

One feature a couple of GMs in my other league are experimenting with is the two-way player. One GM is trying out a player at SP and DH.

Just did a quick check but the LF to CF change still happened and made a big difference on at least one player. I will play with it some more.

Oh yeah. I knew there was one thing I was missing.
I know I said the settings I adjusted last year should be set once and left alone. But there are two settings I would like to tweak. The league seemed to be down on stolen base attempts. I could push that up a bit. The other I think is a no brainer. There were probably twice as many baulks as there should be. I should reduce that setting.

I like this I also had no idea that was available. Recently I created a customized report that doesn't show me the star ratings and I feel I am making better less biased decisions.

I just did some more digging by testing most of my Giants. I found that while star ratings often changed from position to position, the differences were no more than 1.5* (Rob McCoy was 3* at one position and 4.5* at another). Most did not vary or varied by .5* to 1* at positions where they would reasonably be expected to log playing time. One player, who in v.18 is 4* at 2B and 1* at SS, is rated 2* at both positions in v.19. The v.19 ratings seem much more representative of current/potential ratings. Still this take is based on anecdotal evidence. Do some research (anyone) and let me (us) know what you find.

I’ll throw this out there,
I know we use a set schedule for sims, but maybe for the playoffs we can sim when all exports are in. I know it’s more demanding for Ron but it definitely speeds up the time that all the losers spend watching us awesome GMs fight for PBL glory! 🏆😜
Now watch us go 0-7 and miss the playoffs 🤦♂️

Id be fine with no overall or potential rating

Which is a good thing as the game evolves and gets better.

Now OOTP can control it for us. Awesome. I will not put up a vote for this. Those options will be checked.
