In order to keep as many Owners interested at all times, we will be introducing "Promotions Night"
There is always a time in the season when your team is either out of it or just in a big slump where an owner can lose motivation so hoping that these little 'promos' will help keep those in a slump interested as well as providing a little extra fun for those who are rolling right along ...
There will be nights dedicated to the entire league, some that are for a specific division and also nights dedicated to small budget clubs, large budget clubs, etc.
Examples of Promotions night are listed below:
"4/24/10 - All PBL Teams - The starting pitcher with the most strikeouts will win $50,000 towards your cash on hand."
"4/30/10 - NL East Teams Only - Whichever team scores the most runs at the end of 9 innings will win $10,000 towards your cash on hand"
"5/2/10 - Low Budget Clubs only (Teams rated #20-30 in Payroll) - Most hits by a single player will earn $25,000 towards your cash on hand"
I may also get a little crazy and up the ante some nights with some MAJOR promotion nights, winning team can win MUCH larger sums of money ($500k sounds nice doesn't it?).
If league is daring enough how about some big time nights where winner of promo night can buy out a bad contract for 1/2 price!
I encourage all owners to come up with ideas as well. This will be much better if everyone gets on board and comes up with some fun Promo nights.
Oh the one catch . . . . . You have to post on the boards under that nights promotion that your going to participate or you can not win the prize. Not going to be fair for those who are having fun with it not to win because a team who doesn't care gets lucky and wins it.
Final rule: For a Promotions night to count, at least 5 teams must verify they are in it. For division battles 3 teams, etc. I will announce along with the promotion the number of teams for the competition to qualify.
Lets make Bill Veeck proud.....
