The Warhounds have concluded a 15-13 Spring Training and now head north with 25. Let's take a quick look at the roster.
SP Juan Ramirez- 16 year veteran is coming off a solid 3.23 ERA 1.12 WHIP in 2041. Is unlikely to duplicate that success this year.
SP Todd Smith- Had surprising success as a 30 year rookie last year. Strong spring indicates he is poised to improve.
SP Antonio Rodriguez- Was the Warhound's best starter for a season and a half. Just ran out of gas late last season.
SP Manuel Rosado- 24 year old rookie is ready to prove himself at the big league level.
SP Mark Aubin- His skills have deteriorated some, but is durable and will eat up a lot of innings
CL John Scott- If this guy had better control he could be a premier closer. Great stuff makes him a tough guy to face in the 9th.
RP Ed Alder- Long time veteran with great control. Will probably swing between the rotation and the bullpen.
RP Bill Green- My lone lefty in the pen. He has a rubber arm who can pitch a lot of innings.
RP Owen Ford- 24 year old rookie was given little chance to make the roster, but earned a spot with a solid spring.
RP Don Stanton- Rule 5 pickup out of the Blue Jay organization. Decent spring training kept him on the roster.
RP Denny Cantrell- For some reason he is one of the most popular players on my team. Can start if needed.
C Jose Jimenez- Had decent rookie season, Now ready for his 1st full year in the bigs. Hoping for 20+ homeruns here.
1B Glenn Davis- Respectable placeholder until some of our highly touted prospects are ready.
2B Dale Miles- Outstanding power potential for this versatile player. Could be poised for a big breakout season.
SS Greg Snyder- Long time minor leaguer has earned the job with steady play the past couple of years on the farm.
3B Marcos Pena- It was great to see Marcos hitting so well this spring (.452 obp) Expect a big comeback season.
LF Alfonso Varela- Showed potential last year. Needs to be more consistent this season. Brings a great glove to multiple positions.
CF Jose Garza- Exciting young player will catch everything in centerfield and leadoff the lineup.
RF Joe Remole- Can hit homeruns but does little else. Shifting from leftfield to rightfield this season.
DH Patrick Dawson- Had a solid breakout year last season. Expecting to see even more improvement this year.
And on the bench
C Robert Stevens- Rookie catcher brings a promising bat to the bigs, although he struggled at the plate this spring.
IF Ed Martin- Corner infielder who did some catching this spring. Has good power off the bench.
IF Augusto Torres- Had a catch to win a starting job last season and couldn't do it. Acceptable backup.
OF Enrique Miranda- Will start in RF against lefties. Has disappointed in other short stints in the majors.
OF Randolph Weichard- His value is he can step in almost anywhere on the field.
2042 OUTLOOK- Expect the Warhounds to debut a lot of young players through out 2042 with many more ready to join the big time next season. This year will likely be the low point of the rebuild record wise. My Prediction: 67-95
