1. In general, how do you think your offseason went?Pretty boring. Literally all that happened is that I re-signed Zach Porter and let Arnold Nichols go. Compared to prior years, slow as hell. 2. Who are you most excited about adding to your organization?I guess I'm happy to be keeping Porter around long-term. 3. Who are you going to miss the most from last years team?Arnold Nichols really came through for me taking over closing for Boccanera. It was hard letting him go. 4. Do you have any prospects poised to make the team? For the most part, my prospects are already up but had disappointing years. David Estrell had an off-year and Michael Jones was only up for the last few months. My hope is that the two combine for something in the 6-7 WAR range this year. 5. If the league reset, and you had the top pick in the draft of every player, who would you take?Duane Hansen. 6. It's been a few years since i asked this question. Which team, today, is your biggest rival? The stupid Angels. Who are stupid. 7. Will you win a World Series in the next 5 years?Hmm. Even if my team stays reasonably stable over the next five years . . . Let's say that things work out reasonably optimistically and I end up with two byes, two playoffs and one miss. Assuming nothing else that puts me at a 12.5% chance (out of eight teams remaining) x 2, and a 6.25% chance (out of mechanically sixteen teams remaining) x2. The odds that I don't win a world series are 67.3% which gives me a one in three shot at a title. That may be high or low depending, but it would seem like the smart bet that I will not win one in the next five years. 8. Do you own OOTP18?Hell yes. 9. predict the World Series. Winner/Loser/games....Same thing I predict every year Pinky. Pittsburgh winning over . . . Let's say Boston, though Baltimore's gotten a lot better too. And yes, I expect they'll play some games

1. In general, how do you think your offseason went? I love what we did. We were able to bring back guys we really wanted to in Chris Thornton and Brandon MacNamara on deals for much less than they played for last season. Our goals were to improve our OF, 3B and bullpen. Plus find another SP who can provide us solid innings.
We ended up re-signing Chris Thornton in the outfield and traded for John MacGamwell, Alberto Ortiz and Curt Peterson who when healthy will give us depth and another solid bat. We had a deal for Marcos Pena to fill the void at 3B but that got rejected and we brought in Keizo Nakashima to hopefully stop the cycle of 3B. We also brought back the bullpen arms we wanted to retain (Harvey, Russell) and added Dale Boyas who can be a solid closer if called up.
For pitching, we love the addition of Bob Terry from our rival Orioles. A lefty who has proven he can pitch in the American League East is something we covet.
A few small moves we made were actually very important to us as well and we couldn't be happier. Veteran catcher, Stewart Jones was signed as insurance we couldn't bring back MacNamara. Finally, the signings of old infielders, Alejandro Castanedo (36) and Ramon Herrera (40) has us more excited than we should be. The goal with them is to provide a 1B against left-handed hitters to replace Chuck Glendenning. Both have FAR superior ratings versus lefties than Chuck and I think this could be a major benefit to everyone.
2. Who are you most excited about adding to your organization? Wow, we made so many moves this year that this is a hard one to pick. Just in terms of new faces, John MacGamwell is exciting because of his defense and ability to be a leadoff hitter and take pressure off Alonso Franco. He also provides lots of speed, something we always lacked.
We needed an upgrade at 3B so Keizo Nakashima has us excited too. Adding Bob Terry to our rotation seems too good to be true for the price we got him at. Also excited to see Moromao Suitani transition to America and see if he can fulfill the role of lefty specialist. We were in on many in free agents for this role and the cost was getting high and Suitani has so much potential so we will see how this plays out.
3. Who are you going to miss the most from last years team? We will definitely miss Rudy Alvarez who has been a leader and big time contributor for us over the past 2 seasons. He went 18-5 with a 2.20 ERA last season and we made efforts to bring him back but didn't want to spend too much. He really reminded me a lot of Tim Rogers who was on the Mets and from 2032-2034 really performed above his ratings but I was always afraid to trade for him in fear of him falling off and he never really did pitch as well as he did for the Cubs (although decent) and the Angels before retiring. Sucks to lose Alvarez but we felt we got very good replacements in Dave Fields and Bob Terry and are happy with the compensatory pick since we traded our first away early in the off-season.
4. Do you have any prospects poised to make the team? For once I actually have some young prospects who I am excited to see develop but they are further down the line. We are a very veteran-based team this year but we do got a few youngsters we are excited to see over a full season. Nick Stuart (22) is going to get a crack at the starting job at SS and this will be his first full season. Pitching wise, Dave Fields is 25 and been around two seasons but this will be his first as a full-time starter, something we been looking forward too. Moromao Suitani is 27 coming over from Japan but never played professional ball in America will have a big role in our bullpen if all goes according to plan.
5. If the league reset, and you had the top pick in the draft of every player, who would you take? Damn so many options: Duane Henson is the popular pick but Tse-tung Jue in Pittsburgh is amazing and only 22. Pierre Boucher at shortstop for Toronto is a strong consideration. Pitching wins playoffs they say so what about Jhoan Brown, Mario Soto, Norris Barton. Can I trade down and acquire more picks?
6. It's been a few years since I asked this question. Which team, today, is your biggest rival? It has the be the Orioles. We got our eye on their every move and we battle so hard for the top spot in the AL East over the past 5 years. I don't think any two teams could battle any closer over a 5-year span.
The Red Sox won 482 games, 5 playoff appearances, and a World Series while the Orioles won 484 games, 5 playoff appearances, and a World Series. We won the division last season by 8 games. The previous 4 seasons looked like this: Boston 96, 104, 95 and 90 wins. Orioles 97, 103, 102 and 93.
7. Will you win a World Series in the next 5 years? No! we will not win a World Series in the next 5-years, we will win two or more. Confidence is key but the reality is the league has gotten so much tougher that expectations need to be more realistic so we just say that despite the challenge of the league if we do not win at least a single title in the next five years then I failed as a GM. We are building to win now so there is only one option or its a failure.
8. Do you own OOTP18? Yes! And I love it. Can't agree more with Fin about the crispness. I love the design, it's feels much cleaner and easier on the eyes. I expect big things because of '18 and I'll leave it at that.
9. predict the World Series. Winner/Loser/games.... For the NL, I don't like that Pittsburgh was dethroned from their division title and bumped early in the playoffs last season so I think Shane is making the right moves to claim his spot in the Series.
In the AL, I am going to show confidence in my club and pick the Red Sox. We are really going for it this year, maybe more so than in the past few years where we took some gambles with spots on our roster.
I am going to pick Red Sox over Pirates in 6. And if I had a backup pick, I am going the A's over the Dodgers.

1. In general, how do you think your offseason went?
It went very well according to Plan B, but not extremely well according to Plan A. However, as Plan B was the one that Texas was most prepared for, that went pretty well.
2. Who are you most excited about adding to your organization?
Only two notable veterans were signed. RP Arnold Nichols has a track record as a top reliever, and 1B/OF Dalton West rejoins the Rangers after taking his slugging ways to Atlanta, Toronto and Los Angeles of Anaheim.
3. Who are you going to miss the most from last years team?
Nobody of any significant talent was lost in the offseason, but LHP Cris Padino and RHP Matt Pearson each managed to put up pretty successful seasons in the rotation for an overachieving Rangers' staff, and the hope in Arlington has to be that an underwhelming starting staff will again finish in the top half of the American League despite not bringing in new starters, save reclamation project Tom Gonzalez
4. Do you have any prospects poised to make the team?
Yes. This was Plan B---chill out and wait for the first wave of prospects to hit the shore. LF Al Lomond, OF Alan Mosley, and RHP Jeff Ray are a few players who could make noise in 2042. 5. If the league reset, and you had the top pick in the draft of every player, who would you take?
OF Duane Hansen, OF Tse-tung Jue are established superstars, and SS Freddy Rodriguez looks on the way to joining them soon. Any of those players would be welcome on Texas.
6. It's been a few years since i asked this question. Which team, today, is your biggest rival?
The Twins and White Sox are rivals because I know them in the real life world. They each are 2.5 star people at best; Brian is really a 1 star person with 2.5 star potential. In division-- Tampa currently reigns and are hence the target, and Houston and the Rangers are in-state rivals by nature.
7. Will you win a World Series in the next 5 years?
Yes
8. Do you own OOTP18?
No. Soon.
9. predict the World Series. Winner/Loser/games....
The Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim in Orange County California have dominating starting pitching and nobody chooses them so they're going to win the World Series, after beating the Los Angeles Dodgers in a Subway Series that is more like a freeway series.
