Can anyone else how this even makes sense. After about 2 months of Free Agency and working within my budget ($178 million), we head into February and I get the following email from my owner: So lets consider some things real quick: 1) The owner decided near the END OF FREE AGENCY to slash my budget by $48 Million which clearly puts me WAY OVER BUDGET. 2) My Market Size is HUGE 3) My Fan Loyalty is GREAT 4) My Fan Interest is 100 5) The last 5 years we have won 96, 104, 95, 90 and 97 wins. Made the playoffs every season and won a World Series. 6) Last year made a profit of $11 million. Over the past 5-seasons we have made about $28m in profit. Now, my Ticket Prices were also slashed by the owner from $42 to $5 Has this happened to anyone else? As bad as it is, the timing is the absolute WORST possible and most unrealistic timing. Beginning of the off-season I wouldn't understand the drop but my payroll and expenses were way below the $130m he allocated but after months of no change and spending to field a team to his expectations?

No way we let this stand right?
I mean if it's a small decrease I can see leaving it alone but 48 is more proof how jacked up ootp finances are.

He's preparing to sell the team? Is Henry a "meddler"?
I have had budgets go up and down (I've never had a mega-budget team to begin with, so not as drastic). The ticket price adjustment is kind of odd, but you should be able to re-adjust once the season starts.
Happened to be looking at the financial page earlier today, comparing other team budgets (trying to prevent my Expos budget from the projected drop to only $55M next season) and I couldn't help but notice the Red Sox were projected to lose -$80M this season. That might be cause for some owner concern? And maybe you hit some internal game threshold that caused the reaction to right the financials (purely a GUESS)?
Have fun!

I was talking to Shane about this in a PM and I even said, if the owner AT THE END OF THE SEASON slashed my budget by $48 million, I would ask the same questions and not understand OOTP whatsoever. We have been making money, selling tickets, winning games, etc. HOWEVER, I could have worked with that. After the season my payroll was down to about $110 million so I had plenty of room to fix my team, stay under budget and make the adjustments.
That being said, the owner kept us at $178m for another year, we went out and spent money and 2 months into the off-season decided to slash it $48 million. That is literally handcuffing me to the wall and makes no sense.
It is not even the budget slash (which I think is ridiculous considering the state of our franchise) it's the timing!

Might be worth posting on OOTP boards. I've obviously seen budgets go up and down, but this looks like a bug, or a outlier. Something extreme that happens rarely. Is your owner a dick?

I was going by this. In fact, took a screenie because I was marveling at a team apparently projected to lose almost twice my team budget. Eeek. Maybe he wants to rebuild and pocket some cash at the end of the season, once you win it all?

View AttachmentMaybe he wants to rebuild and pocket some cash at the end of the season, once you win it all? That screenshot was when it showed my ticket prices for $5. So I am thinking my tickets got shifted to $5, the owner immediately SLASHED my budget and based on those ticket prices, this was my projected budgets going forward: This is a $100m drop over 2 seasons. If prices were set to $5 then I can understand the owner slapping me in the face but c'mon why would that be done by me. That happened when he upped my draft and scouting.

I remarked elsewhere that ticket changes (when you can) are immediately reflected in your accounting page, so you can find the sweet spot for you revenue. Quite clearly Mr. Henry's move to lower ticket prices (and whatever else you did this past sim) have provided a $96M dollar swing from the -$80M loss to the $16M projected balance now. Wow! He's just protecting his investment apparently?

Do I adjust my budget or leave it? I'm not sure the correct answer here. I don't get the timing and major drop

Ouch... Cardinals feel your pain!!!
Your owner even pocketed the $15M in profits from last season and only gave you $137K in cash to start next season..
