I'm at the point were I'm beginning to think about extensions for some players. However, I was one of the teams with the insane budget drops last season. The "no more than 15%" rule readjusted my Budget from 77 million or so to 109 million.
However, the estimation I'm being given for 2037's budget on the Accounting Page is still based on the original 77 million budget that I had. This means my owner is basically assuming my budget will be down another 30 million or so from it's current rate. So I'm in a situation where I have approximately 2 million for extensions even though in theory I should have plenty of budget space next year. Is there a way to work around this, or am just going to have to take it on the chin and lose every player whose contract ends this season?

Hmm, sounds like the downside to the manual, and external to the GAME, intervention. The budget boost was, as I understand it, only geared to assist with this current season. You seem to have discovered a slight snag in the logic. Oops!

Well, I don't think it's that terrible a fly in the ointment. Especially since based on the new maximum budget drop rule my owner actually can't drop my budget by 30 mil. I'd be happy offering extensions assuming the maximum 15% drop. Just looking to know if that's even possible to work around.

You can figure out the max budget drop by your team, you are correct it will not drop $30m. I am at work and numbers all over my desk but if the max drop is 15% (I need to look this up to be certain) then your budget of $109m this year can only go down to 92.6m next year so this will give you some idea on how to work your budget. Also you can negotiate extensions with Zevin, if you agree to terms and the game does not let you process it, I as commish have ability to offer deals and go over budget (as long as you know next year by Opening Day you cannot be over budget.

Sorry, must have missed the thread stating this as an amended rule, but is the "maximum budget drop rule" going to be calculated annually, and manually, now by the Commissioner?

The ruling was:
"So with that being said, I am going to set a cap on budget reduction for this season only and pending further review this offseason to decide if we will continue or be able to dig deeper in the reason why. That number will be $15,000,000. "
I'm fairly confident upon review we will not be allowing $30m budget drops at any point.
