With the 4th of July weekend here, I don't think its wise to start simming and moving along yet. Even though I do want to get awards going, I may try to set up StatsLab for it to work, I'm happy with the progress of the off-season and look forward to moving forward. The PBL Rules Committee plans to send me all the information they gathered at the end of this week and I will review that and announce any new rules, etc.
As far as lately, I apologize as I feel I haven't been on the boards all that much as I should but when I said I been dealing with things at home, it was an understatement. Our business has been run and operated based around 3 major people (my father, myself and my brother in law). My brother-in-law has been around for 20 years and actually lived with us when he had nowhere to go and his parents moved out of state. No matter who came and gone in the business, the three of us was there and never an issue.
A few months back we noticed money didn't add up properly so we began to investigate deeper. To keep this a short story in what is a REALLY REALLY long one, I'll say this, we found out it was my brother in law who has been stealing from our lottery business and using it to feed his habit, a strong addiction to pills. Perks, Vicodins, uppers, downers ....... The 3 of us sat down and he confessed to just doing it but not a lot and saying he needed help. My father and I offered help and kept it a secret from everyone, including his wife (my sister) at the time so he can try to fix himself and we knew if she knew the extent of it then shit would hit the fan and we thought he earned the chance.
Fast forward to the last 2 weeks and we found out that the help we sent him for was one he never went to, he was hiring people to help him feed his habit with threats of firing them if we found out. The addiction never slowed down but only got dramatically worse. Also while we are helping him and his wife was as well and keeping it from the kids so they didn't know (as we told her the situation after a bit of effort to get him right), we find out that he was cheating on her for well over 6 months and with one of the waitresses at work who recently quit (because he told her to). To top it off, this 19 year old waitress was MY BABYSITTER and close friend of my wife. Shit hit the fan as you can imagine. So now more and more shit came out and he openly admitted to stealing from what he 'remembers' well over $60,000 from us. If someone says they stole $10 from you, its probably closer to $20. This has put out business on the brink of bankruptcy. We are a business thats been around a long time and is extremely busy, we should of been making a ton of money at this point. Instead I go weeks without cashing a check to help the business and thus falling behind in my personal, etc.
So in the last week after he's been laying, hooked on pills, stole, cheated on wife, walked away from 3 kids and has been living with this waitress when he's been telling us he's at his best friends house, he stole a ton of liquor out of the liquor room. He completely fucked us over so now I have been getting to work at 6:30am at the latest and getting home no earlier than 12-14 hours earlier, 17 hour work days on Fridays. Juggling this with my family of 3 boys (5,2,1) and my wife has been extremely tough and I'm hoping we can start to turn things around.
We were always taught there were five sins of the restaurant (or any) business:
1. Lying
2. Stealing
3. Gambling
4. Drugs / Alcohol
5. Cheating / Falling for women with bad intentions
He batted 1.000 and hit on all five sins. Now We are left to deal with the cleanup. We will make it through it but its been EXTREMELY difficult and I know I been slow to respond to the boards as of late but just know that I'm 100% committed to the PBL. As far as the BLoA, I am committed as well but need to wait until I get into a rhythm with work, family and the PBL before I can pursuit more.
Thank you all for your patience. Long live the PBL!
