Submitted by Atlanta Braves:
"I was thinking about adding a winter league of some sort. A way for minor league players to develop during the offseason, learn new positions and things like that. I thought there was a set-up in OOTP V15 but they were both summer leagues."

From experience, because of the way ootp development works, GM's are disinclined to expose their players to further injury risk with little upside.

I saw this in another league and thought it was pretty cool. Its a nice way for fringe players and players injured during the season to get some playing time. Teach new positions, improve defense, and especially nice for those injured SP to collect innings.

How would this make the league better? It could add a new layer of strategy, which players need extra time, which you don't want to risk etc.
How would it make things worse? Bigger league file, more admin, and the risks of setting it up.
Knock-ons? Maybe something in service time? Not sure
Overall, I'm intrigued and wouldn't mind it starting, I don't think it's really solving a problem/meeting a need, but it would probably bring more good than bad.

I like the idea of this, but has anyone thought of the wear that would put on pitchers arms? Does it stunt development to pitch even more than one complete season.
I like the idea, but I'm scared that extra innings would cause way more injuries

Its a minor league, so no service time problem. But if you wanted an ML player to be there, they need to be optioned to the minors.

I like the idea as long as it's a minor league.. there are some players I'd love to give the extra playing time to.

Ideally its a league that would play no more than 60 games plus playoffs.
It also gives GM's who arent active in the free agent frenzy something to do during the offseason.

I've been in a league that had a winter league. It kind of went on in the background as free agency and the off season continued - some GMs completely ignored it - some enjoyed it and it was an interesting extra part of the off season.

I don't have a strong opinion on adopting this. However, for me personally... I spend a bajillion hours working/tweaking/preparing my team for the sims during the long season, and I rather enjoy having a short break where I can focus on family a little bit--- recharge for the next season. If we adopt it... I'd maybe put a little effort into it, but not much.

This one would depend on how important having a relaxing off season could be for a lot of GMs. But it does add a nuance to the game that is available.
Is there much harm done if GMs choose to ignore it while some use it?

I am intrigued by this idea. If it is relatively easy to administer and if GM's can devote attention at varying levels of intensity (i.e., if you are interested, fine; if you are not interested, fine) without negatively impacting the league, it might be worth pursuing.
