Want to try something new here so I created this "Signing Board" thread as a place for teams to post about players they just signed.
Doesn't need to be long but I think often times players get signed and it often goes unnoticed.
Announce some deals your team have made here.
Lets keep this active.

The Minnesota Twins made a big splash by signing Matt Wieters who was released by the New York Yankees after their playoff run ended. The Twins didn't want to wait until the start of free agency before making headlines.
A 2-year, $38.4m contract seems really reasonable for the 35-year old catcher. He is still very good behind the plate and brings an instant leadership role to the Twins clubhouse. He will probably still be good for another .280-25-100 season or two.
Solid pickup by the Twins!

Good terms for the Twins to get him early, 2 years is no problem, even with a decline he will be one of the best catchers this season and decent next season. One of the biggest FAs gone already.

The Marlins made a small move in signing backup catcher Hal Budd who was released from the Angels on October 19th.
Catcher is not a position of need for the Marlins as we have George Doss who led the Majors in batting average and a solid backup in veteran, Caleb Joseph but the chance to add a younger backup who is a popular clubhouse guy who works hard and shows leadership just made sense.
A 3-year, $4.5 million deal is all it took and I think we may see Budd in the lineup with Doss against left-handed pitchers since we chose not to pay Sergio Gonzalez, who killed lefties and let him test the Free agent waters.

The Seattle Mariners announced today that they have signed free agent reliever Don Haley to a three year guaranteed contract worth $1.6m a year, with an option to extend by another year.
Haley was originally drafted out of high school by the Baltimore Orioles in 2012, and was then picked up in the 2016 rule V draft by the Milwaukee Brewers.
He spent an unremarkable three seasons pitching with the Brewers at the Major League level. During that time he pitched just over 200 innings at an ERA of 4.81 with 188 strike outs and 75 walks.
A sizeable contract for a pitcher with little success in the majors, but Mariner's GM Sam East seemed very pleased with his new acquisition at the press conference "Don's had some rough luck last year, but his talent isn't in question. He's got great stuff, and excellent control on his slider and a fastball that's got some serious zip to it. We were also looking for a pitcher who can eat up some innings for us out of the bullpen and that long relief role is where Don will likely start for us in Spring training. I spoke with Don and knows he's been given a great second chance here, I'm sure he'll make the most of it".

The Cubs are happy to announce a couple of small moves.
OF B. Keys signed for 2 yrs 3.8mil total. We can see Keys playing a starting role this season and giving the young guys a pro to look up to.
MR Jose "Bean Pole" Garcia was an international FA who signed for 750k and will be brought in to see if he can maybe fill the last seat in the BP.

Braves signed Michael Pineda to a 1 yr 1.75 mil deal. Allows the Braves some more options in the back of the rotation and more competition behind Ramirez, Simmons, and Miranda.

The Marlins made a small move today in signing 34-year old outfielder, Brian Cavazos-Galvez to a 1-year, $910,000 contract with a team option for the same amount in 2023.
Galvez is considered a very good teammate who gets along with everyone. GM, Derek Bobola, spoke of the role he envisions Brian to have with the team "Galvy is going to get a chance to compete for one of the two outfield bench spots we will have. He's versatile enough to play all 3 spots but is better suited for the corners with his range and Jay Buhner-esque arm. Offensively, I think Galvy can hold his own, especially against left handed pitchers which is a big plus. Won't hit much in way of average but I can see him putting the ball in play a lot and lifting a few long balls."
Galvez will compete with Pancho Guillen who is a very similar player and also better against lefties as well as Javier Castanelda. Galvez may have the slight edge as he is the only player without an option year left of the three.

There were a couple small signings for the Diamondbacks that attempt to add some depth to our roster.
Catcher Tim Porter was signed for $2,730,000 to give us a really strong setup at catcher. Porter will provide a fantastic defensive substitution for Preston Martin and will pick up a significant amount of at bats against left-handed starters, as Martin bats weaker from the right side and Porter hits lefties pretty well.
Also signed was flame-throwing reliever Chris Stady for $950K. Still only 27, Stady has been solid for Atlanta over the last couple seasons, and gets a ton of strikeouts, although his control and home run tendencies have limited him. Stady will likely be in the mix for the closer role with Carlos Lopez having left for free agency, which says more about the state of the Diamondbacks bullpen rather than the quality of Stady.
Second basemen Dustin Pedroia was signed for 1M to provide some depth while 2B Les Miller/Jose Galvan start the year in AAA. Pedroia will likely start the year as the Diamondbacks starting 2B, which isn't ideal given his decline in defense, but we hope that his offense can offset some of that. If one of our 2B prospects in AAA starts the year well, Pedroia can then transition to a PH/solid reserve for the right side of the infield.
All of these are 1 year deals and so will help to cheaply improve us over the next season, while providing time for prospects to develop and allowing me to get a better assessment of the organization.

The Tigers made a big free agent splash by signing SP Juan Gonzales to a 4 year $36,000,000 contract. He will take over the role of #1 SP for me. I wish his stamina was a little better but he was young enough and fairly cheap enough to pick up some more players.
I also signed SP Santiago Cintron to a 2 year $1,750,000 contract with the second year being a team option. He will be penciled in as the #2 starter. Even though he is probably a #5 starter I want to take the pressure off of young Gonzales and De La Torre who are the future of the team.
I also signed MR John Fitzsimmons to a minor league deal with a major league option. I plan on seeing what he can do during spring training. He has good stuff but his control isn't very good but has a potential to be great so I took a chance.

The Marlins are very happy to announce the signing of two new players:
3B- Ryan Zimmerman is a familiar face amongst NL East fans as he played his entire PBL career for the Atlanta Braves and now switches sides to join division rival. Rumors have it that Bobola targeted ZImmerman at the trade deadline but a deal couldn't be struck. Zimmerman will take over as the every day third baseman and will get some time at DH to stay fresh. Coming off the worst season of his career, Bobola feels that it was more due to the lack of talent around him than actual skill.
Zimmerman had nothing but great things to say about his time in Atlanta but did feel a bit jolted after not being offered a contract to finish his career in a Braves uniform. Zimmerman is signed to a 2-year deal worth $13.8 million with a team option for a third.
Jaime Hernandez was the primary third baseman last season in Miami and he had a zone rating of -5.1 while Zimmerman had a +7.5.
Joining Zimmerman will be newly signed shortstop Justin Jackson. The 33-year old Jackson was considered by many to be the best shortstop on the market. He is known for he defensive skills and will bring something the Marlins have been lacking for quite some time. Last season Jerome Allen was the best defensive Shortstop for Miami and he had a zone rating of -0.5 while Jackson had a +9.0.
He will likely be batting ninth in the lineup but he does have the ability to hit the ball a little as well.
The Marlins front office is beyond excited with the way this off-season is shaping up and has promised us more to come...

Hey commish, this board was a good idea. Hopefully we have something to contribute at some point. Don't be so negative. Your 11th in the league in WAR gained this off-season with 0.1 thanks to that Rule-V pick of yours. ;D
