You can trade draft picks between the World Series and the start of the draft.
You can do PTBNL at any time, but they need to be written out at the time rather than actually named later, and completed within 4 sims. If they are longer than that, they are also at buyer's risk as if the GM selling the players moves on, the new GM is under no obligation to complete the trade.

Ok, How in the heck can you have both free agent compensation and draft pick trading, I didn't realize you could have it both ways...What happens if the Yankees sign a free agent comp guy, but have no draft pick for compensation?

Basically, they can't sign a FA if they have traded away their pick. Nothing would stop them in-game so it is up to the GM to make sure they don't sign any FAs with compensation.

Or they just lose their second round pick?
Surely it happened before where a gm traded his pick and also signed a comp. eligible free agent.

This would be an issue, I don't think it's a good idea to have it both ways, a GM overlooks the trade of a draft pick, signs a free agent comp player has no pick and a team gets screwed, then what give the team a 2nd rounder for a type A guy??

The new cba is different. All of the picks are now in between the rounds. So whether you lose a 1st or a 2nd, the pick disappears and the team gets it inbetween the 2 rounds. Thats the way i understood the cba at least.

No such thing any more. Any team who loses a compensation eligible player gets a sandwich round pick regardless of which team signs him or anything else. Even in the previous CBA teams could sign multiple FAs and the team getting compensation may not have got a first rounder anyway.

The way every league I've been a part of has worked free agent comp, is......You lose a TYPE A free agent, the team that loses him gets that teams first pick....No brainer.....It may be different in the PBL, and that's ok if the PBL has different rules in place, just kinda defeats the purpose of type A & B free agents comp turned on

Any league started in the last couple years would have the new rules.
