Okay so as you all know there is a huge thread going on about the budgets (http://paramountbaseball.proboards.com/index.cgi?board=commish&action=display&thread=4588&page=6), if you missed it then you got 6 pages to catch up on.
That being said, I am going to sleep on my decision for one more night and If I can not come to the decision I am comfortable with then it will be time for me to throw my hat in the ring.
I do this league for fun and I have enjoyed this great group of guys we got in this league but I always said if I get to the point where I can't figure something out then its time to consider walking away.
I joke in the past and this might all be in the moment but there is a core group of guys that I talk with in this league all the time and I can't even get any of us on the same page so maybe the budget is too big of an adversary to overcome, year in and year out. Simply letting them be in the spur of the moment has many unfair aspects as well.
No matter what I come up with or suggestions that are thrown in the box there are 10 more counter arguments as to why it won't work and why its unfair to someone else.
I'll think of what I am going to do then I will make my official decision tomorrow. It really does suck because I love this league and had no plans of even considering this but sometimes you got to admit defeat and I gotta be honest, I simply can not spend 3-5 hours a day like I do on this while my son is begging me to play and my wife is feeding the newborn and doing things I should be helping with. If I can't make a decision simply and beneficial to the league while keeping the majority happy then it might be the time.
I got no problem putting my 1-2 hours a night, I roughly spend about 15-20 hours a week on this league at a minimum but this week I have been analyzing, arguing, trying to come up with solutions and can honestly say I have put in about 15 hours in the past 2 days.
On that note, I will sleep on it....

It would be an absolute tragedy to lose this great league because of this issue.
Let us just agree to agree on whatever is decided (and our commissioner has already made his ruling once), and move on with our lives and the league.
Don't we all want to see where Zack Greinke signs??!!? Who gives a fuck about Jameson Taillon or the Red Sox (wait, Red Sox fan here...digressing) or the difference between a few million dollars? It's not our (fake) money!
Let's get this league back on it's feet!!

Tap the brakes Commish. When has the league ever failed to follow a decision you've made? Some are happy with them and some aren't, but the league endures and we're all having a great time with it. No need to become overly dramatic.

Truly the issue is out of hand. I'd like to point out that the majority of the league is silent on the issue (rightly or wrongly), but the point remains is that most of us just want to play the game whatever your decision. No decision will be perfect, nor has been as evidenced by the annual right of passage that is budgets, but the debate will always go on and the commish has already given out one official decision on this and yet here the rest of us remain, waiting for that arb sim to play out...

I too will obviously follow regardless of the budget decision as I've always said I would.
I was just simply trying to provide some perspective on the "arbitration contract" rule.

commish you know if people disagree with you it's only because you're generous enough to ask our opinions, and we care enough to give them. you know everyone supports whatever you decide (even when you're wrong ) despite us happily volunteering our opinions however it's still your league, you do 99% of the work and you're the main reason the league has been so successful. if you stepped down the league would be screwed!

I will say this much. My wife went into Labor 3 am on Friday morning, after going to bed at 1:30 and being up the rest of the day and then the next day I got about 3 hours of sleep and have yet to get on a routine again. My work pile is a disaster from missing 4 days and I got very important work to be done with banks, etc.
On top of all this, I got a 3 year old son who wants my attention and I do need to devote even more time to him plus I need to help the wife around the house until she feels 100% again and I'm battling a stomach bug or something that is kicking my ass so I am exhausted, sick and overworked at this very moment.
So I'm laying in bed a few minutes ago and I tell me wife, "I think I may walk from my league", she looked over and just like this she said "Why? Your an idiot!" So she judges me before I can explain that being sick, tired and all on the plate but I tell her anyway and she comes back with "The league you have been doing forever now? The one thing you do for yourself and really look forward to? The one I sit around to wait for you finish 'one more minute' only for 10 to go by and I wanted to be out the door? Don't be stupid, you'll figure out whatever you guys can't agree on and you'll be fine once yourself back on schedule, your just sick so your talking stupid"
And to think, this is my wife, the closest person to me so I can't imagine what the other 31 are calling me right now, lol.
Anyways, I guess the wife slapped me back to reality so I'll just come up with a solution tomorrow and we will go with it and get things moving quickly.
Now somebody find Erick.. I'm really nervous!

I've been pretty quiet on this, like apparently all the newer guys, simply because we ARE the new guys - where I don't feel it's right to get too far into something that has been discussed over several seasons, but I agree with Shane on most points. Anyway, I think one of Shane's points has been overlooked - the PBL is in the year 2017 instead of RL 2012. Does anybody here REALLY believe, with all these financial problems countries have all over the world (okay, except China) that these billionaire owners will continue rise budgets years after years to see superstart contracts to raise from 20mill/year to 30-40mill/year ?? And to finance that to raise ticket-prices, etc when lots of people out there are struggling to make ends meet already ?? I don't think so. I feel budgets have to go up and down, even to a point where it causes problems for the GM - if your top three pitchers go down the first week of ST and miss most of the season, you have to deal with it without being previously noticed. When you sign Conger to a huge contract because he put up tremendous numbers and then you can watch his ratings drop sim after sim, then it's money wasted without being previously noticed. On the other hand I agree with Derek on one point - The owner of the Red Sox definitely would not sit back and say: "So you signed Cabrera and traded for Volquez, but for bext season I will cut your budget." I'm sure he would announce this at least a year in advance. Okay, that being said, one possible solution - we had 21 guys vote on that poll. Not enough to find out what the majority thinks ... Why not put it to vote, requesting all to take part in the voting, almost everybody is here daily. a.) take the budgets the game gives you b.) set budgets manually to whatever $$$ c.) I don't care And Derek, you're doing an excellent job, we'll eventually decide - no reason to give up on this !! And to the rest of us - no matter what the decision will be, remeber, it's still "only" a game

What's up? Every decision made has been for the best interests of the league. I'll follow whatever course of action is taken.

Touche.
I'm on board with the initial decision the commish made.
And as a side note, if you can't handle a budget decrease on short notice, I don't think you belong in the PBL. It happened to me a few years ago. What did I do? Adjusted, made some trades (Haren and Miggy to be exact) and I'm still winning. It's all part of the game and it's a nice challenge.
