I figured it out. It's counting players with minor league contracts as having major league contracts. If you demote those players your salary will go down. So the ones you don't want to have a ML contract demote them before ST ends.

Does anyone know if I need to limit my pitchers/batters or if spring training just goes ahead and does that. Of course I don't want many people to pitch very long and I wanna get a lot of people at-bats.

really? Ive always set my starters to 60 pitch max during ST and have bats rotating out every 3 or 4 games
