Looking at the Yankees financial situation, I see that they had a negative balance of 29.4 mil before last season- but that it was reduced to 4.8?! Why, and how is the figure arrived at? Currently they 47 mil in the hole and it is being reduced to 6.2. We limit how much cash we can carry over for game purposes, but we shouldn't limit how much we go into the red. Keeping finances in order is part of OOTP.
Faced with a 47 mil short fall, the Yankees would be forced to dump salaries (which is appropriate). When it's 6.2, they can sort of limp along holding on to their talent.

Not quite sure why this is, and its nothing I do on my end. I make no manual changes to finances unless a team wins $$

Really, it's even worse- they owe 15 mil on revenue sharing and that is being eliminated as well.
Preceding year bal- -47,167,462 revenue sharing- -15,142,762
total- -62,310,224
Starting bal- -6,231,026
So the game is only carrying over 10%. I haven't seen this before, and a setting somewhere seems the most likely cause, but who knows.

Commish-
This affects the Red Sox as well. Your team should start the season 5 mil in the red, but it's being reduced to 500k. This needs to be fixed even if done manually. The bottom line result is (among other things) that teams in this situation are avoiding the luxury tax and gaining a competitive advantage.

Since the cash max is set at ten million, that also means that no team will carry over more than 10 million in debt (red) from season to season.

Shouldn't debt carry over at whatever it actually is?

Derek, can you paste in a screenshot of the financial setup? Just curious to see exactly what the settings are.
