Who were some good picks and/or reaches in the draft so far?
I thought the Twins got a great pitcher in Ramiro Sosa at #14

...Especially with the lack of quality starting pitching in the draft.
He'll take forever to develop but Gabriel Miraflores has prodigious potential as a catcher. To slip to the middle of the supplemental round has given Florida a potential steal.

Plus I think he is still celebrating Matt Sweeney's first week in the bigs....6 bombs in your first 7 games!! All I can say is I hope Mauer is sitting next to Brett Jackson soon ;D

Matt Sweeney had a helluva debut, it's too bad he was stuck behind Longoria here in Tampa.

I like Rosa too, although some concern about whether he has the stamina to be a true starting pitcher at ML level.
I mentioned in the other thread that I think Yoshi Mori SP was a steal for the Nats at #15. I quite like my pick (#22) Tim Gore of course. Although he'll never be an all star if he meets his potential he could end up as the ultimate utility player!

I felt that Rosa would have went a lot sooner considering the lack of SP depth in the draft. As for Sweeney, what can I say but WOW! Never anticipated that kind of debut. We'll see if it continues though. one guy that I liked that wasn't a huge steal but was a steal nonetheless, was Evan Pritchard. I had him in my top 5.

No huge shocks or steals for me so far, but I like Reynaldo Ortiz for where he was picked. Showing RF and therefore 1 star, he is a actually a very good reliever with the quickest velocity picked so far and could be a bit of a steal.
The only other player that fell a lot further than my rankings was Saverio Rainaducci (and man was I annoyed he is in my division). On my over-elaborate spreadsheet he actually came out top of all hitters and with a bit better hitting could be a great five tool prospect

Usually players who double as pitchers or pitchers who double as hitters have ratings that suck as their secondary position. Ortiz is the first hitter I've seen with exciting pitching ratings. The question becomes---with the glut of outstanding middle relievers that flood the draft, why wouldn't someone just pick up a better reliever?

At that pick I felt Ortiz was MUCH better than the best MR left on the board.
