So another successful season is in the books now its time to move forward to the 2013 season.
We need to devise a schedule that keeps things running smooth so this is what I am thinking:
1) League roll call - mandatory before we start team options, arbitration, free agency. Have gotten a great response since posting it this morning. Waiting for only 6 teams to reply.
2) Announce Award winners - I think I may be doing this tonight or tomorrow as I have received a lot of PMs already. I think more than any season in the past and definitely enough to award a winner.
3) Clean up the message boards - Will be archiving all the old posts in the appropriate section. For all the newcomers, if you scroll all the way to the bottom of the boards, you will see an 'Archive' category that has all past trades, sims, awards, post-season, articles, etc. It is broken down to allow a very easy navigation of the leagues past.
4) Web site - This is something that is really bothering me. I got a lot of ideas and some really cool features (I think). If anyone is willing to make a commitment to helping with the site it would be a huge help to the league.
My ideas for helpers would be something like this:
a) I know we sim at a rather quick pace so I was thinking what if someone did a 'This Week in PBL' section maybe every Sunday where it covered the 3 or 4 sims that we had.
b) someone can write about a prospect, the past draft, teams farm systems, etc. A little inside information. Maybe this can be done on a different day during the week.
c) looking for at least 1 or 2 more ideas for site as well. Like the idea of having something posted a couple times per week.
First order of business for team activity is Salary Arbitration followed by players declaring for free agency and then the Rule-V draft.
This is my thinking, tell me if its too fast or not:
MONDAY 2/21- Sim through Salary arbitration and up until players declare for F/A
TUESDAY 2/22 - Sim the first 4 days of free agency which will bring us to Rule-V Draft
-- Now the Rule-V Draft is something we need to decide how we want to do --
We can do this Tuesday night or Wednesday depending on what we all agree upon
The following day we can sim free agency 7 days at a time each day until 2nd week in January and then we can start simming 2 weeks at a time.
One of the best parts of this league I think was our ability to get from seasons end where only few teams were active to the off-season to get everyone back on board and excited about baseball and then the quick pace of the off-season so we can get back to playing baseball.
I am all for simming every day, this will not be an issue on my end, I just don't want to go too quick for some but at same time I think the off-season can be a fun yet boring process and teams can lose focus so I like to keep things moving along..
Please chime in with suggestions
