Hey guys,
I know we just posted the voting last night and some already took the time to vote but I'd like to change up the voting process a bit to make it a bit more realistic.
I would like to have everybody PM me their votes as well as every team gets 3 votes per position:
Example: AL MVP - 1) Mauer 2) Webb 3) Prince
this way, 1st place guy gets 3 pts, 2nd gets 2 and 3rd gets 1 vote.
We can use the threads as a great basis to see who is worthy....
This way when awards are announced there will be some suspense and a lot more points to tally than just someone winning the MVP with 12 votes (which is less than half the league). This is what happened last season..
So votes are known but 2nd and 3rd place votes also add up and could change the reflection of this..

For the record, I think this is a much better idea than the open polls on the forums. Prevents the sheep effect.
Also, its going to be cool to see the first through third places in the awards. I'd also like to see the placements implemented in the player history section. That would really be neat.

but there needn't be so many candidates. imo in the future the lists should be narrowed and the stat lines listed should be more complete and uniform.

If you're voting 1-3, you'll need a fair amount of candidates at times. I used the same 5 stats per player, plus a wild card stat as it isn't fair to show stolen bases as a stat for slugging first basemen.

I didn't think there needed to be so many. 5-6 players plus a full stat line would have been my preference. I suppose I could have researched it myself if I was really concerned, just thought it would be an improvement.

I think more options is always a good thing (just look at some of the reasons we have for the votes we've made. Different criteria appeal to different people). What stats would you rather see so I can implement them for next time. Also, for things like MVP and perhaps ROY, would you like to see defensive stats at all?

I will put the results in player histories inside game... Definitely a noteworthy thing to be runner up, etc.

I think you're right, the candidates weren't a huge issue. I would love to see just a couple main defensive stats, because I believe you are right to value it as highly as you do (ZR and RF are probably all that is necessary). as far as offensive statistics on second glance I suppose those listed are sufficient. maybe it was just unusual for me to look at the abbreviated line. in any case I appreciate all of you who helped put it together!

I know it is late in the game already, but any chance we can add Closer of the Year (Reliever of the Year)?
