Hey guys, I promised two major announcements today and the first one was to help with the activity and push for the most fun possible in this league. This announcement though trumps all announcements made in PBL so far. In fact, I consider this one of the biggest accomplishments the league has seen yet and maybe in the foreseeable future.... I am very happy to tell all of you that after two days and a splitting headache, the PBL has finally set up STATS LAB!!! I installed StatsLab for ootpX, and I am going to work on adding the update StatsLab11 as soon as I figure out how to get that far. The link is paramountbaseball.net/ootpsqlou/login.php, it will bring you to a page that looks like this You will find your name (alphabetical) and your password is baseball. once you log in you will have the ability to change your password, I suggest you do so. Its not 100% set up but the main structure is, if you see anything that is not right, let me know and I will fix it (to the best of my ability). I also will be adding the StatLab features and posting on here so we can discuss as a group what the settings for each thing should be. Hope this news is as exciting for you as it is for me. Just a small reminder, this will be a work in progress as I learn my way in and out but this is a major start for us I believe.

my most immediate question is when I sim tonight, do I need to do anything besides upload HTML Reports. In order to update StatsLab - yes. You are going to need to generate the SQL files that it uses to generate all the pages. There's something you can click to do that in the commissioner online tools I believe. Then you upload those files to the directory you set up earlier and StatsLab should be able to "suck" them in following the other set up buttons. I set this up once, it took me forever to get it exactly right, but if you have any questions I can try and answer them. Not quite sure how useful I'll be, which is why I hadn't mentioned it before.

came across this in regards to statslab reporting player development, thought you might like it
So if you have coaches and scouts off the development part is basically useless with how OOTP works (unless you care about year to year). Right?
No, it keeps track of it sim to sim. Players ratings and talents go up and down all of the time. OOTP just reports on it in the development reports infrequently. There is actually alot of development that occurs behind the scenes. __________________

For those unfamiliar with statslab, I will try to throw out some examples as I work it. Here is a thing that I love. This is brief part of a player report on Marlon Byrd. as you can see, it shows each of his seasons but then on the bottom it shows cumulative stats for how he did on each team he played on. It also breaks down defensive stats cumulative by positions Simply amazing.

Wonderful !! I've been waiting for this since the start. Statslab is very useful for writers as it breaks down all the stats sim by sim - you can set it to display stats for last sim only so you can see exactly how your team / player /division / league has performed that sim plus as shown above you get a much better breakdown of each player stats as well as a section on each players hall of fame stats, how many black type entries, how many gray type entries and average No. of entries for HOF entry

Not to get to your head E.J. but Marvin Webb is third in career postseason hits, first in doubles, tied for fifth in triples, first in average, third in runs created/27, and is tied for third in sac flies?
lol, Prince fielder has three times as many postseason walks (39) as second place.

There is actually alot of development that occurs behind the scenes. Sounds really good, can we look at past development (I want to see if it's as bad as I think for the Giants ;D) or will it only start tracking from now. Good job getting it up and running either way, I think I will be spending a fair amount of time on there.

we are going to fully utilize statslab, and I am pretty positive I can import the past history on development so we can see its tracker but again, it will take some time to get everything perfect.
