In a word describe last season. Why that word?
Satisfying. It was good to finally make it back to the playoffs and win a round.
What changes from 2062 roster do you think will have the biggest impact in 2063?
We added Steve Mathis late last year. We expect him to anchor our rotation and have a great season for us.
What are you most excited about in the upcoming season?
In Cleveland it's always about incremental improvement. Our team BA was the best since I've been here. It should be a bit better this year. We should see more long balls, some of which may go out of the park, and a bit better defense. We're not good enough to challenge Detroit yet, but Cleveland, Chicago and Minnesota will make Carl work for it.
How are your finances looking? What's the plan?
There's supposed to be a plan? Nobody told me. I guess the plan is to convince Mr. Phelps to let the team have more of the millions we make for him every year. A few years ago Cleveland had $100 million tied up in our starting pitchers and we didn't have two nickels to rub together. It's great to have some of Mr. Phelps' spare change. We plan to spend it wisely.
Who do you predict will win your division this year?
The Tigers don't own our division, but they have a pretty good lease.
Who is your biggest rival? Are you theirs?
We want to be everyone's friend. The Tigers, the White Sox and the Twins are like family. We go to a lot of their games every year.
I would be hurt if Carl, Greg or Brian considered Cleveland to be a rival. Or worried about us. At all.
How often do you use Reports and/or Stats+ websites? How are they useful?
I can use any tip I can get. Every time I think I've found something I can leverage, Sansterre whispers in my ear, "Small sample size."
And finally, of course, what is your PBL 2063 World Series prediction?
PBL's version of Yankees-Red Sox for the next few years will be Cincinnati-Detroit. The Tigers nearly pulled it out last year. This year I think they do it. Tigers over Reds in seven.

In a word describe last season. Why that word?
Disappointing! After winning our division in '61 I felt we were likely to repeat but too many players fell back in performance leading to a lackluster effort overall
What changes from 2062 roster do you think will have the biggest impact in 2063?
The first prospects from our rebuild are ready to play finally. Lane Fifield is taking his spot in the starting rotation. Fifield has great stuff and control and projects to be a staff ace if his abrasive personality doesn't tear apart the clubhouse. Jose Guillen acquired in the Ramon Encarnacion deal is ready to take over left field. Guillen has hit .321 during his journey through the farm system and if his power ever reaches it's full potential it should be a perennial All-Star
What are you most excited about in the upcoming season?
The rookies I mentioned above are the most exciting thing I have to look forward to. I also am hoping that Fernando Cruz develops into a more consistent pitcher to combine with Roy Pike and Fifield to give me a solid top of the rotation.
How are your finances looking? What's the plan?
Dollars are a little tight right now but the Yankees have a lot big bucks dropping off the books over the next two seasons. Looking at you Bobby Lott, Carlos Martinez, Luis Valencia. (Actually the Valencia contract never ends) Anyway with a young inexpensive core coming up and old dead money coming off the Yankees should have a lot of financial flexibility going forward
Who do you predict will win your division this year? The great thing about the AL East is everybody has a chance to win it every year as 4 different teams have won it over the past 4 seasons. Following the pattern it is the Red Sox turn to win it.
Who is your biggest rival? Are you theirs?
Yankees - Red Sox, New York - Boston, 1978 - 2004, Babe Ruth!!! Need I say more??
How often do you use Reports and/or Stats+ websites? How are they useful? All of the time! Based on my results I don't know how useful that they are but they help me stay engaged and make the game more fun.
And finally, of course, what is your PBL 2063 World Series prediction? Tigers over the Nationals in 7

In a word describe last season. Why that word?
Surprising. We ended up winning the division in a game 163 against Colorado having taken the division lead for the first time in the season just the week before. I had thought that 2062 would be a season of consolidation and never really expected to challenge but Oakland didn't really show up and the Rockies kept coming back to us. So getting to the playoffs was a surprising bonus and the revenue gained helped us keep our closer, Dan O'Neil.
What changes from 2062 roster do you think will have the biggest impact in 2063?
We've upgraded at catcher signing both Cesar Martinez via a trade with Carolina and Bill Morrow vis Free Agency. Both project to be a considerable improvement to what we threw out last season.
What are you most excited about in the upcoming season?
Seeing which of the many pitchers we have in the farm make the roster in the coming year. Its likely that Noriyuki Ine and his 6 pitch repetiore will make the starting rotation whilst the jury is still out on Don Hollingsworth and Ted Morley whether they will make Opening Day but both will feature at some point this season. The good news is that there's more pitching to come after those guys.
How are your finances looking? What's the plan?
Really tight. Sato is a future Hall of Famer but takes up 40% of our payroll on his own. The 'plan' is to try and make the playoffs and get us some breathing room and maybe persuade our owner to increase the budget. Without that it could get tight as we'll have to pay Dorsett.
Who do you predict will win your division this year?
The Rockies. Always competing. Not sure what happened to Oakland last season but I also expect they will come back.
Who is your biggest rival? Are you theirs?
The Rockies. You'll have to ask Can'tstoptheRock if he considers us theirs. Hope so....
How often do you use Reports and/or Stats+ websites? How are they useful?
Stats + certainly. Mainly late at night on the ipad just to check on the team, particularly the minors.
And finally, of course, what is your PBL 2063 World Series prediction?
Nats over Texas in 6

In a word describe last season. Why that word?
Progression. The rebuild is coming along right on schedule. Rookies Curt Powell and Eliot Bernard had great rookie seasons. They were 1 and 2 in ROY voting. Development of other top specs (Emiliano Girometta, Wen-Zhong Qiao, Jimmy Humphrey, Greg Milligan and Drew Griggs) all took nice steps forward. To date it looks like this class of studs could all reach their full potential. If that happens look out PBL. The unfortunate reality of this rebuild is the pitching studs are younger than the hitters so the lineup will be firing on all cylinders a couple seasons before the pitching hits it's stride. Marlins management projects this team to be a perennial playoff contender around 2065 and should be a major force by 2068.
What changes from 2062 roster do you think will have the biggest impact in 2063?
The active roster will look much the same as the close of 2062. We are excited to see what some of the guys that came up midseason and were a big part of the strong Marlin finish can do with a full season. Most notably 3B Jaromir Koudelka and CF Emilio Trujillo. But, to the question, what is the single biggest impact change? There really is not one. The closest is 30 year old Yoo-ngan Si joining the rotation out of free agency with a one year contract and takes over for retired Robert Hollis. He should give us 200 innings so his success or failure will certainly have an impact whichever way it goes.
What are you most excited about in the upcoming season?
1. Seeing if Powell and Bernard suffer sophomore slumps or continue to improve. 2. Watching the development of the studly specs.
How are your finances looking? What's the plan?
As expected the budget has plummeted a couple seasons behind the dive in wins. Fortunately the Marlins have positioned themselves with literally the lowest payroll in the league so we are still able to max out player development and scouting. Maxed out PD will be a key factor for the next few seasons. Hopefully the young hitters can generate enough fan interest to grow that revenue a bit before they have to get paid. Plan B will be to refunnel the scouting budget into payroll. Finally the hope is that the team will have enough success and maybe some playoff money in their pockets to pay the pitchers when their time comes. I have dreams of keeping all of these youngsters together for a dozen seasons to see what their ceiling can be.
Who do you predict will win your division this year?
Nationals still own the division.
Who is your biggest rival? Are you theirs?
100% the Nationals. No, I have no doubt we are way behind the Padres on their radar. Possibly a few other teams too.
How often do you use Reports and/or Stats+ websites? How are they useful?
Occasionally. Mostly for trade discussions and research when I'm on my work computer.
And finally, of course, what is your PBL 2063 World Series prediction?
Giants finally make it to the dance but don't have enough to manage the Rangers who take it in 5.

In a word describe last season. Why that word?
Misleading. Last season the Jays led the league in attendance with 4,085,368 fans coming through the turnstiles. The team responded by posting its’ best win-loss record in over 9 seasons at 81-81, and ended the season in 1st place in the AL East. Everyone felt that the team may have turned a corner towards respectability – everyone except the keeper of the purse strings – The Owner!
What changes from 2062 roster do you think will have the biggest impact in 2063?
This is easily answered in two words – Dave Gonzalez. (We couldn't even come close to his ask from just over $6 million to a multi-year deal at $27 million per year). His departure via Free Agency impacted the teams’ competitive nature on the field, its’ morale in the clubhouse, and most importantly, caused a significant decline in fan support.
What are you most excited about in the upcoming season?
Unfortunately, this season is going to be disastrous for the organization and there’s nothing to be excited about in a positive nature at this time.
How are your finances looking? What's the plan?
Our finances are a mess to put it mildly. The owner has decided not to provide any funds for Free Agency or Extensions!
Who do you predict will win your division this year?
Boston
Who is your biggest rival? Are you theirs?
I’m ashamed to say that we will be the doormats of the league this season. We have to be competitive in order to be considered a rival.
How often do you use Reports and/or Stats+ websites? How are they useful?
I check the Reports, Stats+, etc. on a regular basis. My biggest challenge these days consists of dealing with my game that doesn’t reflect current league files/information on a consistent basis.
And finally, of course, what is your PBL 2063 World Series prediction?
Washington

In a word describe last season. Why that word?
Okay. It was the first season since I've joined the PBL that the Dodgers didn't finish last in the NL West. But we won less games than we did the year before. I'm happy with posting consecutive seasons above .500 but was hoping for a little bit of a jump from 2061.
What changes from 2062 roster do you think will have the biggest impact in 2063?
I spent a lot, probably too much on 2B Raul Vera who's been a solid hitter and elite defender for almost a decade. With Vera added I think the Dodgers have the best infield defense in the PBL by a comfortable margin.
What are you most excited about in the upcoming season?
I'm excited to see how 25 year old SS Christian Gibbons follows up his first all-star season. I'm prepared for a regression but hoping he can stay around 80 WRC+, his glove will do the rest. How are your finances looking? What's the plan? Finances for this year are tight, I spent a lot in Free-Agency with Vera and a couple starting pitchers but those were either 1 of 2 year deals so long term we are looking good. My plan is generally to maintain long-term flexibility while spending most of my budget every season. It's really easy to do when you don't have any home grown talent you need to lock up long term.
Who do you predict will win your division this year?
Arizona, I think they are the best team. San Diego and San Francisco are also going to be good but I think Arizona is just a small level above them. Unfortunately I think I'm still a little behind SD and SF but you never know how it will shake out. I do believe that this will be the third year in a row that all 4 teams in the NL West finish above .500 and that would be nice to be apart of.
Who is your biggest rival? Are you theirs? The Dodgers haven't had enough success since I've been in the PBL to say that I really have a rival. If I had to pick I would say San Francisco for beating us the last game of the regular season and keeping us out of a play-in game for the last wild card spot in 2061. I'm pretty sure we wouldn't really be on their radar with the Dbacks and Padres being consistently good.
How often do you use Reports and/or Stats+ websites? How are they useful? I use Stats+ all the time, I usually don't have a lot of time to actually get in the game so I mostly just make any changes I need to make in game and otherwise keep up with everything going on in the league through the slack highlights and Stats+ on my phone.
And finally, of course, what is your PBL 2063 World Series prediction? Nationals over Rays in 6.

In a word describe last season. Why that word?
Yankees2004…. enough said. What changes from 2062 roster do you think will have the biggest impact in 2063?
None really, basically the same team for the past three years. What are you most excited about in the upcoming season?
Excited would not be the right word, more interested…we picked up Roberto Castillo in the Rule 5 and I am interested seeing what he can do in TB. How are your finances looking? What's the plan?
Decent enough. I have been making sure I have enough to sign the players I want to keep, trying to lock up some players on cheap long-term contracts to keep the machine going. Who do you predict will win your division this year?
Could honestly be any of us. HOU and TEX will be good as always and KC will also be very good this year. The AL south is simply brutal. Who is your biggest rival? Are you theirs?
The AL South. How often do you use Reports and/or Stats+ websites? How are they useful?
I always use them. And finally, of course, what is your PBL 2063 World Series prediction?
AL South (sorry Detroit) vs. CIN. I like CINs team that they have put together over there.

In a word describe last season. Why that word?
Ouch! I spent more time on the transaction page moving guys up down and all around. That and over the past 3 seasons we've gone from division winner to first wild card to second wild card. The trajectory is not good.
What changes from 2062 roster do you think will have the biggest impact in 2063?
Not a whole lot. We added more guys from the Rule 5 in hopes one or two will perform and so far it's looking like Dave Butler might actually be that guy. Maybe the biggest change was one that didn't happen at all. Since John Howe stayed unsigned for so long, we figured we couldn't let him sit on the sidelines any longer in spring training and will gladly give him his job back.
What are you most excited about in the upcoming season?
Seeing if we can keep pace with the new look NL West.
How are your finances looking? What's the plan?
I think I've got it figured out in San Diego. We consistently run a profit and are able to retain talent.
Who do you predict will win your division this year?
That's a tough one because each of the 4 teams can win. Arizona slipped a little bit last year, San Francisco turned it on and Los Angeles keeps looking better and better.
Who is your biggest rival? Are you theirs?
Hey Ryan! I like the rivalry, it's like fate for us to meet in the playoffs.
How often do you use Reports and/or Stats+ websites? How are they useful?
Often, it's fun just to explore the various reports to see what's going on around the league. Team vs. Team is a good way to see where it went right or wrong in a division or wild card race.
And finally, of course, what is your PBL 2063 World Series prediction?
I'm a big fan of the Reds and they can face off against the AL South this year.

In a word describe last season. Why that word? Step. Hopefully another step in the longest rebuild in the history of professional sport. And now another step needed!
What changes from 2062 roster do you think will have the biggest impact in 2063?Honestly unsure at this point. We build from within. The biggest impact will be from someone taking a big leap. I do like our batting threat of Chavez/Mendez. What are you most excited about in the upcoming season?Hopefully being there at the end.
How are your finances looking? What's the plan? After a couple of years of small increases, we are expected to be red this season and the drop next season looks very, very disappointing.
Who do you predict will win your division this year? Montreal!
Who is your biggest rival? Are you theirs?I do not think we are there yet. To have a consistent rival, you have to be more consistent. How often do you use Reports and/or Stats+ websites? How are they useful?I do not faithfully dissect the stats on either. Maybe I should do more of that? And finally, of course, what is your PBL 2063 World Series prediction?Houston beats Washington in Six games.

In a word describe last season. Why that word?
Underperforming.
What changes from 2062 roster do you think will have the biggest impact in 2063?
Michael Davidson, Solves DH with a good switch-hitter, hopefully I can find some good platoon options in the infield.
What are you most excited about in the upcoming season?
It is the first one, just excited to start the emotional attachment to names on a spreadsheet.
How are your finances looking? What's the plan?
Not good, wasn't paying attention and the budget vs project revenue are not on the same page. Hopefully I can move Lucas Winters without giving up too much to take on the contract.
Who do you predict will win your division this year?
My projections say the Arizona Diamondbacks. OOTP says the Arizona Diamondbacks. So.......not the Arizona Diamondbacks.
Who is your biggest rival? Are you theirs?
Giants, Dodgers, Padres. Hopefully one rises to be the biggest.
How often do you use Reports and/or Stats+ websites? How are they useful?
Team Stats is the primary one I look at to get an overall tread of where my team is. Look to see who is stacking a particular area or trends. We are all stealing stats from each other.
And finally, of course, what is your PBL 2063 World Series prediction?
Nationals. So much offense with a decent staff.

In a word describe last season. Why that word?
Disappointing. Felt like too many of our guys had mediocre numbers and then turned it around once they were traded.
What changes from 2062 roster do you think will have the biggest impact in 2063?
Having Bill McBryde for the whole season will be exciting.
What are you most excited about in the upcoming season?
It's been many seasons since I've been in a rebuild, so it'll be fun to throw young and unproven guys out there and see what sticks.
How are your finances looking? What's the plan?
Real bad. The rebuild got a lot harder with the death of our very generous owner. Now we have a real stingy SOB and our budget is being cut drastically. We're gonna need to tighten the belt this through 2064 and then we should get some payroll flexibility.
Who do you predict will win your division this year?
I think safe bet is the Mets.
Who is your biggest rival? Are you theirs?
I feel like the Mets have always been my main rival, even back in Shane's Pirates days, it was usually the Mets I was jockeying with for a wild card or 2nd in the division.
How often do you use Reports and/or Stats+ websites? How are they useful?
Pretty often. It's nice to be able to click around when I'm not on my OOTP computer and check sims or data. I probably use Reports way more, but Stats+ is nice for the draft, trade block and looking up players.
And finally, of course, what is your PBL 2063 World Series prediction?
Diamondbacks over Astros in 7. Francisco Rivera finally gets the ring he deserves.

In a word describe last season. Why that word?
Perplexing. I was one of the better hitting teams in the league. I really didn't think we would be THAT bad. Guess my pitching was just really horrible.
What changes from 2062 roster do you think will have the biggest impact in 2063?
I'll say it again...Louis Ferneyhough. He actually made it through spring training this season so, I've already won, LOL!!
What are you most excited about in the upcoming season?
Louis Ferneyhough. Oh, and having the #1 draft pick for the draft!!
How are your finances looking? What's the plan?
Finances are pretty good. Don't spend a lot at the moment on big money free agents because I feel it's a waste if I'm not contending. And, I don't want to be on the contract albatross list, lol!!
Who do you predict will win your division this year?
I think the Angels will repeat.
Who is your biggest rival? Are you theirs?
Heading into my 37th!!! season as the GM of the M's and as shitty as I have been over these past 36 seasons, I don't really think I have forged a rivalry with anyone.
How often do you use Reports and/or Stats+ websites? How are they useful?
I use them daily. It just shows me how bad of a GM I am...ha!!!
And finally, of course, what is your PBL 2063 World Series prediction?
Sean really has something special there in Cincinnati going. I think Shane will bounce back this season and get back to the series. But, the Reds in 6.

In a word describe last season. Why that word?
Deja vu. I guess that's two words. Does someone have a single word to convey that feeling? Maybe the French? Anyway, we had a good regular season and lost in the NLDS, same as the five years before that.
What changes from 2062 roster do you think will have the biggest impact in 2063?
Ramiro Benavidez should give our bullpen some much needed depth, but the biggest impact might not be on the opening day roster. Top prospect Gerard Watkins is an iffy third pitch away from making his major league debut, and could push our rotation back to 2061 levels if he continues to develop.
What are you most excited about in the upcoming season?
I wrote an entire article about Raymond Page setting various records, so probably that.
How are your finances looking? What's the plan?
We have the largest budget in the league thanks to our owner throwing in $28M I didn't ask for this spring. He can be inconsiderate and capricious like that. I don't have anywhere to spend that necessarily (let me know if you need a salary dump), but that means our finances are safe. The plan, as always, is to continue to make lots of money so my owner continues to give me lots of money so I don't have to worry about impulse spending, like giving $3.6M to a 46 year old.
Who do you predict will win your division this year?
Us.
Who is your biggest rival? Are you theirs?
I think Rich already answered that, but we've played San Diego 8 times in the past 16 postseasons. So Padres and yes.
How often do you use Reports and/or Stats+ websites? How are they useful?
How else do you think I come up with my Raymond Page facts?
And finally, of course, what is your PBL 2063 World Series prediction?
SF over HOU in 7.

In a word describe last season. Why that word? Mediocre. It seems that we are stuck between 70-90 wins. Not enough to win
What changes from 2062 roster do you think will have the biggest impact in 2063? We are still looking to add though our minor system which isn't doing too well.
What are you most excited about in the upcoming season?
It will be interesting to see Pong Su Mo with a full year to play.
How are your finances looking? What's the plan?
Our finances are healthy but find it difficult to land a star player no matter what we throw at them
Who do you predict will win your division this year?
Washington still has a leg up on us.
Who is your biggest rival? Are you theirs? No rivals right now. We stink too much to be on everyone's radar.
How often do you use Reports and/or Stats+ websites? How are they useful? Somewhat. I lean on the ootp program more as I can initate the actions directly without going to another window.
