The PBL 2010 draft will officially start tomorrow, Saturday July 17 @ 2 pm EST, Lets try to make each pick quickly, with the activity level I don't see that as being a problem but if it drags out, I will implement a time limit for each selection.
Even though we do not 'officially' begin until Tomorrow, Teams can start making their picks now if you want to get a head start..
Washington, Feel free to get this thing rolling - Going to be a HUGE decision! With Montero on board do you bring Harper as well or do you replace Strasburg with Taillon...

Just for fun, if the Draft Lottery was implement this season (which it is not, begins in 2011) the Draft order of the top 14 would look exactly the same with 1 exception, The Oakland Athletics would of made the jump from #9 to #3 ....

I vote we start the lottery immediately. I'll be working on that third pick.

I am new to the concept of drafting on the forums. How long does the draft usually take? And I think it would be a good idea to implement some type of time limit or time slot to make picks as with the short notice of the draft starting tomorrow, will all GMs be available to starting hashing out picks...?
I'd hate to miss pick #6.

Normally if the draft bogs down the commish will slap a two hour limit on each pick but not usualy in the first 1 or 2 rounds - if you're worried about missing your pick because of time away, I expect Derek would be prepared to accept a draft list from GM's then he just drafts the highest available on your list when its your turn. Thats something statslab is good at - when you draft through statslab you set up a draft list and when you're not around tick 'draft from list' and when your turn comes statslab drafts your highest choice

alright, just to let you guys know, if this is starting at 2, I won't be able to make my selection until at least 8:00 PM due to my work schedule. Also, I'm going on Vacation starting the 21st, getting back the 29th, so my availability for OOTP related activity will be reduced (if not entirely erased) for that duration.

There really doesn't need to be a time limit. The purpose is just to get things rolling, the actual draft won't be taking place for for quite while. Since there is no way to auto-pick since the draft day is really not here. We should just keep reminding the owner who is next and watch for your turn. When draft day gets close we can see where we are and then put some time limits out there.

I am a big fan of every draft, watched to whole NFL draft, MLB draft,NHL draft, it interests me how teams build their organizations. So I will be putting together a draft day review as the picks are made (ala Mel Kiper Jr. in football). It will be on the web site, complete with pictures and player writeups and bios. Might even do some interviews with owners on why did you select this guy kind of stuff.

Courtesy of YanksGM: "He's called 'Old-Iron hands' because of an old school accident when both his hands got crushed by the school bully. The school paid to have his hands surgically rebuilt but due to lack of funds it wasnt quite the six-million dollar man they got back as the doctors used some old scrap iron to fashion his new hands." He's the trailblazer for "artificially physically enhanced" players. Underground android leagues will be following his development very closely.

Hey commish, let's create a separate thread for draft discussion, so this one doesn't get too cluttered and confusing on who's pick it is and what not. Love the draft talk though
