I've always disliked stealing, however I noticed last season my guys were having a lot of success when they did steal. I kept adjusting my sliders up to steal more, and ended up 4th in the NL in steals. Most noticeably, 3B Jack Allen went 23/23 in stolen bases.
I also noticed that my catchers both struggled a lot throwing runners out, which seemed odd as they both had good arms.
Started browsing around in the game, and I stumbled on the Historical Simulation Accuracy page (PBL -> Statistics -> Historical Simulation Accuracy), which is nice for checking year to year changes in the league.
All the year to year fluctuations the last few years look normal, except for SB%. After hovering around 70-73% for the entire history of the PBL, in the last two seasons (the seasons with OOTP 18), the SB% has been 79.53% and 79.66% in 2043 and 2044 respectively, shattering the previous record of 74.7%.
This is a pretty huge change that is definitely affecting gameplay. From watching Arizona games, it seemed almost impossible to throw a runner out unless it was a pitchout. Does anybody have any insight into why this change has happened?
For what it's worth, it looks like there have been some other interesting changes in between OOTP versions. Following the switch to OOTP 17, the K/AB rate shot way down from .226 back into the .19x range that was normal at the start of the PBL.
