RP Cecil Comtois
He has a torn meniscus. Recovery time is 4-5 months. Shows to be a DtD. How is a 4-5 months injury considered DtD? Would any of y'all pitch him again?

I took this from the online manual:
Day-to-Day Injuries Day-to-day injuries are a judgment call. Remember that injured players who play are less effective, and more likely to get hurt again. That said, if it's the playoffs, and your All-Star shortstop at 80% is still far better than the alternative, you have some thinking to do. Here are the most common actions to take with day-to-day injuries:
*Do nothing. Leave the player untouched in your lineups and depth charts and hope he doesn't get hurt worse.
*Install a temporary substitute. Leave the injured player on your active roster, but place another player in the starting lineup and ahead in the depth charts until the injury is healed. Note that if you auto-play your games, there is still a chance the AI might use him to pinch hit, or as a defensive substitution, if it feels that is necessary.
*Place him on the 15-day disabled list. Then call up a replacement from the minors or your reserve roster, or sign a free agent. Not a very common action to take with a day-to-day injury, but this could be an option if you want to be extra cautious.
If Comtois were in my rotation, i would DL and move onto to someone who is next in line. No need to rely on a guy who's risk to get injured is higher than a replacement player.

If you leave the player on the roster and do NOT want him playing at all... Make sure you go to player strategy and bench the player for "x" amount of games. Otherwise the AI will still use him.

One of my catchers has a DTD injury that began with a duration of about 4 months. I placed him on the DL. In cases like these, I view the DTD designation as irrelevant. They're injured for a long period of time. Place them on the DL and use the roster spot for players who can play.

I had SP Salvador Soto get a day-to-day injury of a sprained ankle with a recovery time estimate of 6-8 weeks during spring training. I mistakenly left him off of the DL for a sim or two, and the AI (thankfully) did not use him. He is now on the DL until he can come out of his cocoon of bubble wrap.
Perhaps there's some sort of gradient incorporated into the AI, where it looks at the type of injury that was sustained??? I.E. a player with a sprained/sore hand might get played, but a sprained ankle might get a player benched?
