Wow. One lucky team jumped higher than I have ever seen before!
There are no compensation picks in the top 10 this year so the lottery was pretty strait forward. Here was the ping pong ball distribution:
Expos 25 Cardinals 21 Brewers 16 Mariners 11 Blue Jays 8 Rays 6 Astros 5 White Sox 4 Nationals 3 Mets 1
And the results are <drumroll please>....
1. Cardinals 2. Nationals 3. Expos 4. Brewers 5. Rays 6. Mariners 7. Mets 8. Astros 9. Blue Jays 10. White Sox
Commissioner, Braves and Giants were CC'd on the results and can verify that I did not receive a bribe from the Nats.

It wasn't a movement of epic proportions, but I am quite satisfied moving from 10th, down to 7th. Thanks for efforts Ron, i already PM'd the paypal payment.

There, fair is fair!

Quick question I should've asked a week ago: are the recommended slot bonuses listed anywhere? I've made a rough estimate based on what previous draftees have been signed for, and I know moving from 9th to 2nd will up my draft expenses quite a bit over what's currently showing. Good problem to have I know, but I'd like to have a little more confidence setting my budgets for the year if possible.

Good problem to have I know, but I'd like to have a little more confidence setting my budgets for the year if possible. Honestly I am not sure. I have never seen the slot bonuses published anywhere ahead of time. I did some quick research into last years draft. Here are the bonuses for the top 5 picks. 1 - $8 mil 2 - $8.5 mil 3 - $7 mil 4 - $4 mil 5 - $120k My assumption based on what the #5 pick got paid is the slot bonuses for 1-4 were probably much less but the players had high demands. While we are on the subject, another note of caution. Doing the first two rounds of the drafts on the boards is a lot of fun but it does come with a draw back. Demands are dynamic and do change as the clock ticks towards the draft in game. Many GMs have seen higher demands when the in game draft happens than they expected at the time they made the pick. Obviously this is especially pertinent to the early picks. If you have the budget room you may be wise to set aside 7-8 million for the #2 overall pick. Or... Padres would be happy to swing a deal for it.
