1. What changes has your organization undergone since last season. What impacts do you expect or hope for?
Fans in the Bay Area are excited about the new-look Giants. After three years of rebuilding, many prospects who have been gaining experience and improving skills in our organization are proficient enough to compete in the big show. Joining them will be several free agents who were signed to selectively upgrade the roster. To many, the new-look Giants feel like an entirely new team.
The starting rotation will feature four talented pitchers each of whom has no more than one year of experience. Joining veteran Tristan Donovan will be Hideki Nakashima, Eduardo Gallardo, Francisco Mendoza, and Phil Williams. In the pen, 22 year-old rookie Jack Wheeler secured the closer role during spring training.
In the outfield, Mel Williams will play a more significant role in his first full season. Ed Duran and Jonathan Kelly, acquired via free agency, will help strengthen the outfield positions and improve production at the plate.
The infield has been totally reworked. Talented rookies Craig Martin and Juan Guzman will step into the 3B and SS positions respectively. To make room at SS, Jason Lacy has shifted to 2B in a full-time role. During spring training, veteran captain Alfonso Salgado, our 3B for 15 years, developed above average skills at 1B. He will platoon with Zivota Petrovic, who was acquired via free agency.
The catcher position remains our weakest position manned by a pair of mediocre veterans, but we plan to address this need in the near future. The draft and develop route should enable us to do so very quickly.
In summary, Giants fans anticipate rooting for a much improved team in 2066.
2. What spec are you most excited about? How did you obtain him?
We are excited to see how many of the talented young players will play to their potential. And who will make big splashes at the PBL level. We are most excited about 3B Craig Martin. He still has untapped potential. How much will he develop during his first full season with the parent club?
3. What are your favorite OOTP screens? Why?
I rely on many screens for week-to-week roster management, but for player development and assessment I especially like the Front Office and Organization screens.
4. Who is the best player on your active roster?
I suppose LF Tyler Lumby would be considered our best player, but in the near future Craig Martin could be pressing him for this distinction.
5. Do you expect to make a deep playoff run this season? If not, when are you projecting your next window could open?
We are hopeful that this is the year we will secure a playoff berth and return to playoff action. Once we do, anything can happen. Go Giants!
6. If there was a single change you could make to PBL what would it be?
Two: a) Adopt full coaching. They add a challenging, realistic dimension. b) Adopt relative ratings. In my other league, I use them extensively to manage the organization - who is ready to be promoted; who has little potential, even vs. lower level competition, and should be released; etc.
7. And the traditional final question, what is your 2066 World Series prediction?
Cincinnati Reds defeat the Texas Rangers.
