When the Braves made the big off season trade for Stephen Strasburg they knew it was a matter of time before he made it to The Show, well the time has come. GM Terry Ladislas announced Strasburg's promotion to the Major League roster and that he would start against the Arizona Diamondbacks at Bank One Ball Park on June 8th. Strasburg made 12 starts at the Braves AAA affiliate and had a 5-3 record with an ERA of 5.58. Strasburg's threw a 4-hit shutout with 10 strikeots in his minor league debut, but struggled in his next 4 outings allowing 25 runs in 13 innings. His next 4 starts were up and down and after 9 appearances had a 2-3 record and 6.99 ERA. But a few mechanical changes resulted in his last 3 starts being wins and Braves management felt he was ready to make the move. The ove comes at a time when the Braves pitching staff ranks 14th in ERA despite having the league leader (Jo-Jo Reyes) in ERA. With the addition of Jorge de la Rosa and Matt Belisle to the Braves staff a week ago, Strasburg's addition sends a message to the rest of the division they're not ready to cash in their chips just yet. "The season still has over 100 games to play and even though our record is not where we intended to be, we haven't lost the drive to win the NL East."
