I always love media day! Thanks for putting it up every season.
1. What was your main goal this offseason? Last year my bullpen was really strained because I have a lot of good young pitchers who haven't fully developed their control and burn through 100 pitches in 4 to 5 innings. I went into the off season looking for a couple of starting pitchers who could go deeper into games.
2. Did you accomplish it? I think so. I signed Maximo Caraballo and Jeremy Harden in free agency. Both of them have very good control and should be able to eat up innings and give my bullpen a break.
3. Who are you going to miss the most off of last years team? I am in a good place right now where my team is young enough that no one significant is a free agent or has priced themselves off the team. Because of that we really didn't lose anyone off of last year's team that I wanted to keep.
4. Who is your top prospect, and is he going to be a Hall of Famer? Howard Nichols has only pitched 80 innings in the majors so I going to count him as a prospect. Hall of Fame is certainly a stretch, but seeing he already has 9 wins in only 13 starts, I going to make a bold leap of faith and say he will be a first ballot HOF'er in 2069
5. Who is the best player you ever had on your team? With no disrespect to Marcos Pena who was the face of the Carolina Warhounds, the best player during my tenure as GM has been catcher Jose Jimenez.
6. Are you going to make the playoffs this season? Yes! I been building to this year for 5 seasons. Now is my time.
7. What is your biggest OOTP pet peeve? When you submit a free agent offer and the player comes back with he favors the offer, but then doesn't make a decision for 2 months. Would love to see a "take or leave it" button added to the negotiations to pressure a player to make choice to move things along
8. PBL World Series prediction. Who is playing and who is winning? Looking into my crystal bowl I see the Indians over the Mets in 5

Media Day is one of my favorite things about this league (one of many!):
1. What was your main goal this offseason? Improve the offense which was last or near last in every category last season. Had to do something about that. 2. Did you accomplish it?
I think so. 1B Vincente Herrera: .268/30/96 1B Pablo Moran: .296/1/35 3B Nakashima: .291/1/40 2B Jorge Gonzales: 4.5 star international free agent LF Jim Hull: .271/12/59 RF Dave Estrell: .262/19/68 2B Ruben Guzman: .261/17/39
A full season of Herrera should help and I can't wait to see what Gonzales brings. Moran and Nakashima are proven vets (a former Cubs players). Both these guys can hit for high average but have no power. 3. Who are you going to miss the most off of last years team?
Prospects Ed Boer and Joe Kaiser. Traded them for Manny Kane. I've made a lot of mistakes in my 6 seasons in the PBL with trading my best prospects and depleting my farm system. But Kane is a Cy Young winner and I felt like he makes my rotation much stronger now. Boer and Kaiser will be stars at some point but Kane is one now and I think we are close to winning the division now so I made the deal. 4. Who is your top prospect, and is he going to be a Hall of Famer?
SP Stephen McDonald is my top prospect. I don't think he will be a HOFer but I think he will have a solid career. He's 22 y/o and spent last season at A+ Myrtle Beach where he didn't perform so well in 14 games started. Hoping he can do well at AA this season. The skillsets are there.
LF Tae-sang "Juan Gone" Ch'oe is just 18 years old but I really like his potential. He has 8/8/5/6/9 numbers (potential). He looks like a star to me! Those could be HOF numbers if he continues to develop as I think he will.
1B Sifaks Ben Hassi is another international free agent from Kenya who I signed recently. He's 16 years old and has outstanding numbers 7/9/8/5/8 (potential). I really am excited to see how he develops. 5. Who is the best player you ever had on your team?
SP Jose Baez. He pitched outstanding for the Cubs. Always had a low WHIP and ERA. He was solid. I knew the Cubs always had a chance to win with him on the mound.
I traded Jose Vera to the Reds but I did that before he became a future lock for the HOF. Sad face. 6. Are you going to make the playoffs this season?
Yes. The NL Central is up for grabs. My pitching was top 10 last season (in the NL) and I didn't do much to change it. I didn't really mess much with the pitching. I was a mess offensively and I think I addressed it. I think I can make the playoffs, I don't know how far I can go in the playoffs but I think I am set to make a run at it. 7. What is your biggest OOTP pet peeve?
None 8. PBL World Series prediction. Who is playing and who is winning?
Pirates and Cleveland. Pirates win. Shane builds powerhouse teams year in and year out. I think he wins it again.

1. What was your main goal this offseason? Patience. The latest rebuild was scheduled to come to fruition right about now. But looking over the organization it is pretty obvious that this group is underwhelming. The next wave the is currently is A and AA looks MUCH more promising. So I avoided the temptation to make moves to help out the current majors and instead decided to be patient for the next wave.
2. Did you accomplish it? Yep and even took it a step further by trading Carl Holmes for a mountain of prospects and draft picks.
3. Who are you going to miss the most off of last years team? Carl Holmes. I'll probably be missing him the most for the next decade. He managed 5.3 WAR last season despite a .242 batting average. He has two major league seasons under his belt now and just keeps getting better. The guy is right on the cusp of an epic career.
4. Who is your top prospect, and is he going to be a Hall of Famer? Corner outfielder Kata "Dragon" Okada is in A ball. At 20 years old he has a ton of growing still do and his current ratings are still a long way away from potential. But it is fun to dream about what this guy could be. If he fills out his potential he could be competing for triple crown MVP type seasons and HOF is definitely below the ceiling of what he could be.
5. Who is the best player you ever had on your team? The Padres of the 2030s had a bunch to choose from but if I had to choose one probably catcher Jason Wilson. He was just plain dominant in his hey day.
6. Are you going to make the playoffs this season? Nope.
7. What is your biggest OOTP pet peeve? Cheap ass owners. Oh right, he's dead now. <Happy Dance>
8. PBL World Series prediction. Who is playing and who is winning? Pirates and Dodgers are always the favorites. So I am going to against the grain. I'll take the Giants over the Athletics in 7.

1. What was your main goal this offseason? To wait out my youngsters and hope for more in the coming season. And maybe make tactical move or two only.2. Did you accomplish it? Yes. Very little money means I can't be stupid in the off-season, even if I had the urge. Sorry, that should read "overspend", I can still quite easily be stupid. Waited out the off-season to see if any opportunities presented themselves and right at the end did a deal to bring in a veteran (as in old) bat as my DH. My original idea for DH was just a bat to fill the roll and more a position player than bat, so he was included in the trade.
Obviously not a long-term proposition, but might give us some punch this season and I had a surplus of pieces, so went for it.
3. Who are you going to miss the most off of last years team? I don't think anyone one a 101 loss team can truly be "missed", so we always look forward.4. Who is your top prospect, and is he going to be a Hall of Famer? With a high potential bat, defense and blazing speed, my top prospect is going to get a good, long look in Spring Training. He is still ALL potential (as is most of my young team), but I see very big things in his future patrolling CF. Remember the name Francisco RAMIREZ for the future.5. Who is the best player you ever had on your team? Waiting........................6. Are you going to make the playoffs this season? I certainly don't want to piss anybody off and give them blackboard material when we come to town this season, but Pittsburgh and New York (and of course Los Angeles) suggest we, like everyone else, are targeting the wild card. But really those are the only MEGA-teams in the NL.
The rest is pretty wide open unless someone surprises (like us)!7. What is your biggest OOTP pet peeve? One?
Honestly, if pressed, the rules (which is my pet peeve in general) are still rather involved in PBL for a newcomer (even without Zevin), but the longer you're here, the less you have to reference them.
And by the above I really mean I wish the GAME would catch up to what online leagues exploit so easily. Maybe 19 is the year of "Online-Love?" 18 wasn't that year really.
8. PBL World Series prediction. Who is playing and who is winning? The World Series always happens the series prior. It's actually called the NLCS! And Pittsburgh beats LA, then takes it all again this season.
In fact, reverse those two and I can cut and past one or the other for the next half dozen seasons.
Still pulling for Fin though!! Until we get closer...........
LOVE "Media Day"! Thanks Earl.

1. What was your main goal this offseason? [NYM] The main goal? Continue to improve and extend our contending window. Shane is a master at turning over his squad just enough to keep winning 100+ games a season. With Chip and David rebuilding their teams, I'm trying to stay in contention as long as possible so i can compete with all 3 of them. The time will come ( i trust in David & Chip) when all 4 NL East teams will beat the hell out of each other!
2. Did you accomplish it? [NYM] When it comes to prospects, it's hard to say for sure. But trading David 'The Snake' Segura for prospects was the move this off-season to help me extend that winning window. Segura was tough to part with. He was drafted 8th overall in 2039 and quickly made his ascent to the PBL in 2040 before suffering a season-ending concussion. He has put up 18.2 WAR in his 4 seasons thus far. I'm hoping he wins a ring with the Twins! In return, we are stoked about SP Randy Brown and OF Pedro Flores in a 4 prospect return for Segura. Time will tell if the youngsters pan out, but it was a move we had to make to extend our win probability for the next 5-7 seasons.
3. Who are you going to miss the most off of last years team? [NYM] Segura is that guy. That said, he missed 4 months at the start of the season due to injury and we were able to win more games than I thought possible. That set in motion this off-season's move. Will still miss the son of a gun though. I'll be rooting him on from afar! I can't help fall in love with my players, is it evident even a little bit?
4. Who is your top prospect, and is he going to be a Hall of Famer? [NYM] I'm going to go on record in saying Jorge Molina is the young star prospect for us and he will be a PBL Hall of Famer when all is said and done. In 265 PBL games, Molina already has 300 hits with 50 doubles, and 42 stolen bases (and only 5 caught stealing)! He won't hit with any power but this guy is going to be a hit machine. He is a switch-hitter and equally hits righties and lefties. He is my future Hall of Famer!
5. Who is the best player you ever had on your team? [NYM] Keith Kent made 178 starts for us over the years. 22 WAR and 77 wins and 22 complete games made him a fan favorite between 2033 and 2039. Keith Kent, ladies and gentlemen!
6. Are you going to make the playoffs this season? [NYM] It won't be because we didn't try. Replacing Segura will be Riley and Diaz in the OF, another season of Lopez/Noftle/Dyer and our bullpen remains intact. Martinez shores up the rotation improved and further developed to give us 4 strong starters. Luck, injury-free and great defense should give us a shot!
7. What is your biggest OOTP pet peeve? [NYM] The inability to easily extract all of the stats the game tracks internally for us to consume! Historical pitcher vs hitter stats would be a great feature. Team streaks would be a boon! Just give the us the ability to pull out what WE think is relevant!
8. PBL World Series prediction. Who is playing and who is winning? [NYM] Holy mother. So many great teams out there. Pittsburgh, LAD, SF, Atlanta, Washington, Oakland, Boston, Baltimore, NY Yankees, Texas, Minnesota, Cleveland. Minnesota will make it back to the Series and this time win, knocking off Tim and the SF Giants. Don't worry Tim, i will be rooting for you to win in 2046!
Thanks for doing these John, i love reading everyone's entry!

On the eve of Spring Training, it's time for GM's all over the league to step up to the microphone, and spill the beans!
1. What was your main goal this offseason?
To keep my team's run of success going without compromising the future.
2. Did you accomplish it?
I think so. I acquired Carl Holmes and have reason to think that my team may be even better than last year. I spent approximately a million prospects to do it but thanks to a flurry of deals I'm going into this draft with 2 first rounders, 5 third rounders and 8 picks in the 4-7 range. I also added a lot of young depth to my rotation, from MacCley in the majors now to Kaiser, Boer and Cintron in the future.
3. Who are you going to miss the most off of last years team?
I'm going to miss the Big Four. Orlando Perez is now wrecked (but still a monster), Manuel Kane is with the Cubs and Zach Porter is now a comp pick for me. I still have Barton and I think my pitching will be fine, but I sure will miss having those four at the peak of their abilities.
4. Who is your top prospect, and is he going to be a Hall of Famer?
If we're allowing Carl Holmes then yes. If we're talking minor leagues then no; I have no minor league prospects anywhere near that good. My farm system is full of some very nice role-players on the batting side but no hall-of-famers, and my young pitchers, while better in quality, are not probable studs.
5. Who is the best player you ever had on your team?
Orlando Perez. I think Carl Holmes is going to put up a 10 WAR season (at least one) but Perez is the best OOTP pitcher I've ever seen. He has to be mentioned in the same breath as Johnson, Alexander, Grove or Young as one of the greatest pitchers of all-time.
6. Are you going to make the playoffs this season?
I mean, anything can happen, but yeah. Assuming we aren't wrecked by injuries or the RNG I think 100-105 wins is a comfortable forecast.
7. What is your biggest OOTP pet peeve?
I don't have one. I love this game.
8. PBL World Series prediction. Who is playing and who is winning?
I can't bet against myself here. I bet Oakland against Pittsburgh (or the Dodgers) with the NL winning. Again. >.<

1. What was your main goal this offseason?
After coming in 2nd to Minn once again we knew we had 2 offseason needs. Upgrade the middle of our Offense and try to upgrade our rotation. 2. Did you accomplish it?
We signed DH Rivera to anchor our lineup and protect Serrano. As far as SP, acquiring Martinez & Ramos from KC was a cheap way budget wise to hopefully help our rotation.
3. Who are you going to miss the most off of last years team?
Siador for sure. He wanted to be a SP but when asked to CL for us he accepted it and excelled. Just couldn’t justify his salary demands with his injury history. We wish home well though in Det.
4. Who is your top prospect, and is he going to be a Hall of Famer?
CF Hoyt Perry. Not quite sure what the future holds for him but as an organization we’re excited to see. May get called up this year if Serrano gets hurt but we’re gonna try to keep him down for 1 more full year if possible. As for HOF, I’d say no for now. 5. Who is the best player you ever had on your team?
Wow. Tough one. Either Pantoja or Lewis would fit that description. Both helped us jump start this Cleveland experience and helped us in building the young core we currently have. There’s no doubt this era was mainly built on the Pantoja to Cubs deal that brought multiple prospects.
6. Are you going to make the playoffs this season?
We better.
7. What is your biggest OOTP pet peeve?
Nothing OOTP’s fault but there are times when Dad and I work’s schedule make it difficult to keep up. We need to do better at planning for those times.
8. PBL World Series prediction. Who is playing and who is winning?
Finner’s Mets & Oakland. Finner wins in an upset.
GL everyone. Cya on the field!

1. What was your main goal this offseason? Our Pitching staff last season was decimated with injuries, so I made it a priority to add depth in the rotation and the bullpen.
2. Did you accomplish it? I believe so. Early in the offseason we managed to acquire SP Bob Hamilt. Hamilt will get a shot in the rotation this season and I'm anxious to see how he performs in Cincinnati. RP Alfredo Sousa was signed in free agency to provide some depth to the bullpen and work as a lefty specialist. An additional LHP RP was a priority, and Sousa is one of the best in the league against LHB. We also added RP Ernest Quick from the Angels for a couple of lower prospects. Quick has the potential to be a pretty decent RP, but he hasn't pitched to that potential yet in his career.
3. Who are you going to miss the most off of last years team? It's gotta be 2B Tyler Covenay, but this is more of just an answer to fill in. We acquired 2B Robert Cox in the Rule V draft and he appears to be a very similar player.
4. Who is your top prospect, and is he going to be a Hall of Famer? To the casual observer, we don't have any top prospects. That's because they are already on our PBL roster. SS Jason Pope is probably the top "prospect" among the group, but it's crazy to think that 1B/DH Jose Vera is the same age (24). It will be interesting to see how Pope progresses this season. For Pope to be a Hall of Famer, he'll need to produce this season.
5. Who is the best player you ever had on your team? This is a hard one, it's pretty close between Will Taylor, Jimmy McIntosh, Eric Harrison, and Jose Vera. I'm going to go with Jimmy McIntosh, but Jose Vera is close to passing him for me. Hoping to see McIntosh in the HOF someday!
6. Are you going to make the playoffs this season? Yep, and I'm pretty confident we will win more than 90 games.
7. What is your biggest OOTP pet peeve? Scouting and spending. It seems like there really is no correlation to spending and the quality of Scouting finds. There have been times where I have invested little in Scouting and generate more quality finds than when I invest more heavily.
8. PBL World Series prediction. Who is playing and who is winning? The Dodgers actual production has to start looking closer to their actual player ratings right? Pittsburgh on paper looks to be the class of the NL again. Oakland made some moves this offseason to help their offense but the pitching side doesn't look as strong. That being said, who's going to take them down in the AL? I think the only way they get taken down is a major injury to Barton or Perez.
Pittsburgh over Oakland in 6 games.

1. What was your main goal this offseason?
My goal was to use our excess budget space to add a couple big ML pieces, specifically a SP, to be able to compete for a wildcard spot in 2045. Doing all this though without taking on any risky contracts that could hurt us down the road when we really expect to be contenders.
2. Did you accomplish it?
Not completely. We signed star catcher Ricardo Ramirez in free agency, who will provide a huge upgrade at that position as long as he can stay healthy. We failed however to sign a SP of significant talent, as the bidding war for Siador became insane. We did manage to get SP John Evans, though he is out 7-8 months with a torn UCL. I'm hoping that he can recover without too much damage to his ratings and be a top 3 SP for us in 2046. 3. Who are you going to miss the most off of last years team?
We didn't lose too many players this offseason, as our team is quite young and mostly under control for the near future. 2B Kelvin Boyd was lost to free agency, and he had put in another really solid season, posting a 2.8 WAR. His departure opens the door for Callum Chapman to get a starting role, so the loss shouldn't be that significant for the team.
4. Who is your top prospect, and is he going to be a Hall of Famer?
One thing that we do have is a surplus of prospects. Our top prospect is probably the 3rd overall pick from 2042, Brady Henderson. He projects to 8/8/9/6/7, and if he gets there he will easily become the best hitter I've ever had in Arizona. He could be a Hall of Famer if everything breaks right.
5. Who is the best player you ever had on your team?
Orlando Perez. Possibly the best pitcher ever, and he was the centrepiece of my team for the entire 2030s. 6 consecutive Cy Young Awards during that period.
6. Are you going to make the playoffs this season?
Hopefully... Preseason projections came out and they have us finishing last in the division. I'd be quite disappointed if we finished worse than last year, and I think that we have the potential to get the 2nd wildcard spot this year.
7. What is your biggest OOTP pet peeve?
Some of the in-game stuff. For example, a runner will never be thrown out trying to stretch a single into a double, yet will often be thrown out trying to stretch a double into a triple. I also think that the 3D animations could use some work.
8. PBL World Series prediction. Who is playing and who is winning?
Rockies over Pirates in 7.

1. What was your main goal this offseason? I had a pretty quiet offseason. Most of the same players from last season's Championship team are returning. We wanted to add another top of the rotation arm, a talented infielder that could field well and bat everyday, and figure out what to do about the talent logjam in the outfield.
2. Did you accomplish it?
We got Scott Bell who I think can be very good with our defense backing him up. We didn't manage to sign or trade for a 2nd base upgrade but I'm trying Page out at 2nd again during spring training this year. Even though Page's RF went up last year in CF I dont trust him to be fast enough to reliably get to the ball. If Page takes to 2nd, George Westbrooks will get a chance to show what he can do in the bigs.
3. Who are you going to miss the most off of last years team?
Joe Garciapar. He could never stay healthy but he gave really solid innings when he was.
4. Who is your top prospect, and is he going to be a Hall of Famer?
I guess Hector Trejo qualifies as a top prospect. He has only played in 63 games at the ML level and doesnt seem to be done developing. If he reaches and performs to his potential ratings he could be one of the best players in the league.
5. Who is the best player you ever had on your team?
Raymond Page of course. He is inbelievable. His clubhouse captaincy is also a nice plus.
6. Are you going to make the playoffs this season?
I would be surprised and very disappointed if we missed the playoffs.
7. What is your biggest OOTP pet peeve?
Cant really think of any at the moment.
8. PBL World Series prediction. Who is playing and who is winning?
Dodgers vs A's. Dodgers win in 6

1. What was your main goal this offseason?
We missed the playoffs last season. Injuries, lack of flexibility, and age all played major factors. So i wanted to use this year to change the culture, if you will. I wanted to make the team younger, with more depth.
2. Did you accomplish it?
I certainly was able to bring in alot of new faces. So ya, i accomplished something. Who knows if it will work. We are younger. We have a number of options at each position, many with options for AAA, and we have guys who can play a few positions. Are they good player, I'm looking forward to finding out.
3. Who are you going to miss the most off of last years team?
Charles Edouard Poulin and Derek McCauley were both excellent hitters. McCauley lost his ability to play third early in the year, and Poulin can only play first. It put my team in a tough spot playing guys in unideal positions defensively. I will miss their bats, but had to move away from those types of players.
4. Who is your top prospect, and is he going to be a Hall of Famer?
In my mind, our top prospect is Joey Klein. To me, he looks like an all around player, who with one ratings boost becomes a superstar. Now, who knows if that boost will happen, or if it will work out. I love that skillset though, and i plan to let him cook in AAA for a portion of this season. He will be up at some point.
5. Who is the best player you ever had on your team?
Herb Griffith and Bryant Chaney have been great for so long. Jimmy Smith was great for a very short time, and Brian Sinclair is the best reliever I've ever seen. None of them were Sotan Kono though. He spent 3 years in Baltimore, and was amazing. He turned a very young team into a winner. He delivered everytime, in big spots. Legend!
6. Are you going to make the playoffs this season?
I certainly hope so. AL east is a beast, every year. Missing out on the post season fun hurt last year. I want back in!
7. What is your biggest OOTP pet peeve?
Oh, I have a few. I've made it well known i feel Marcus is a very close minded individual, which is a pet peeve. My biggest pet peeve though....I feel the scouting system in the game is awful. It should be shot and pissed on. SCOUTING SHOULDN'T BE RANDOM.
8. PBL World Series prediction. Who is playing and who is winning?
It's going to be a competitive season. Alot of teams look really good. The NL has two powerhouses, but is it time for them to fall? The AL is wide open in my opinion. As I've said many times, i'm not a prediction person. With that said, I hope it's me!!

1. What was your main goal this offseason?
The main goal was to clear 40 man room without losing any big prospects, leaving enough room to sign a starter who can be one of my top 4.
2. Did you accomplish it?
Not really. I had a strange offseason. There was no good veteran starter acquired. The first part yes, though I did not get as many prospects traded as I would like. Still taking offers! In general I like the direction of the team but should have been more aggressive.
3. Who are you going to miss the most off of last years team?
Righties Alex Edwards and Steve Terry were dealt to Atlanta due to an abundance of good relievers. They have been reliable performers who will be missed.
4. Who is your top prospect, and is he going to be a Hall of Famer?
Amghar Sumait is an outfielder from the tiny African country of Lesotho. He is fast and looks like a great hitter. He will be the greatest Lesothoan to ever play and is a lock for the Hall of Fame.
5. Who is the best player you ever had on your team?
On Texas, I think it is already Albert Hernandez. He made such an impact on the team last year in every facet. With Toronto-- I have to go with Jay Peters, who at his peak was probably the PBL's best leadoff man, although honorable mentions to should-be Hall of Famers Sean Hanson and Brian Sinclair
6. Are you going to make the playoffs this season?
Yes, Texas Rangers will win the AL South.
7. What is your biggest OOTP pet peeve?
When watching replays, so many pickoff throws.
8. PBL World Series prediction. Who is playing and who is winning?
Texas will defeat the Twins and Oakland in the playoffs, then win in dramatic fashion over whichever Terminator the National League sends--Pittsburgh and Los Angeles are both juggernauts. Gotta believe!
