1. Give your overall offseason a Thumbs up, or a thumbs down, based on what you were hoping for when it began. I was hoping to get a little more but i essentially have every single major piece of our championship team including CY young award winner Chris Sampson and 4 of the 5 other starting pitchers we had on our roster
2. Who are you most excited about adding? Derek McCauley is a former marlins that we have reacquired. Lets see what he's got.
3. Who are you going to miss the most from last years team? Jose Baez was a long time marlin who consistently gave a solid performance. Well definitely miss his presence 4. Do you have any prospects ready to make their mark in the show? Carlos Galindo is a 26 year old outfielder we just signed out of free agency. He's a 10 eye hitter against righties so excited to see what he's got
5. What is the biggest mistake you have made in the PBL? trading Orlando Perez for Tom Torr Straight up. To be fair orlando was still raw, and a low work ethic guy who didn't see a single rating increase for a whole year but the man became one of the best pitchers of all time and is still going
6. In your opinion, who is the PBL's greatest player? Really Tough its between Vasti and Kono but my favorite player of all time was Justin Turner
7. Is your team's owner an asshole? The Marlins owner is nothing but Class
8. Predict the World Series. Winner/Loser/games.... Pirates over Indians in 6

1. Give your overall offseason a Thumbs up, or a thumbs down, based on what you were hoping for when it began.
Thumbs up for sure. We had a budget increase of 10mil so we knew if the right opportunity came along we'd be ready.
2. Who are you most excited about adding?
No doubt it's this years international star SP Sambo Mahiri. Our lineups where pretty locked up so adding pitching was our #1 priority and we believe that adding Sambo, Trowsdale, & Boyas accomplished just that.
3. Who are you going to miss the most from last years team?
C Stewart Jones will be missed by me. Love having a Vet behind the plate but he just never hit for us. We won't miss his 8mil he was owed for sure but sucks that it cost us our 1st to do so.
4. Do you have any prospects ready to make their mark in the show?
OF Jorge Amador won't start in the bigs this year but if he stays healthy I can see where his RH bat would even us out later this year.
5. What is the biggest mistake you have made in the PBL?
Wow. Tough. Nothing comes to mind other than giving JJ the 7 year 176 mil contract that everyone called me crazy for while I was with Det. For the record he pitched a gem in his first 3 games then blew his elbow out. Came back the following year and did the same. I honestly cried over this. lol
6. In your opinion, who is the PBL's greatest player?
Vasti over Kono for me.
7. Is your team's owner an asshole?
Yes, but he's coming around after 2 WS appearances.
8. Predict the World Series. Winner/Loser/games....
Reds over Balt in 6. I think it's Sean's turn.

1. Give your overall offseason a Thumbs up, or a thumbs down, based on what you were hoping for when it began. Well according to the game we had the worst off-season in the league losing 15.2 WAR but I don't think those numbers do it justice based on what we have returning so I am happy with the off-season given our financial situation and I'm hoping we can maybe add another part whether its another solid arm or depth to the outfield or bench help but overall I think we can be competitive if healthy and come post-season with our pitching, we should be okay.
2. Who are you most excited about adding? Honestly, we are more happy about getting our pitchers back healthy than we are about landing anyone from the outside. We didn't have much budget room this year and we finagled a few things to still try and do something but just having Markus Price, Jimmy Smith, Francisco Perez and Sotan Kono back is enough for us.
Jimmy Smith was our big signing a year ago and only threw 5.2 innings for us so he is essentially making his Red Sox debut this year too.
3. Who are you going to miss the most from last years team? Without a doubt Manny Cabrera. He was a good bat in the middle of our lineup and one of the best catchers in the league. He was a very tough loss but financial reasons tied our hands and we had to move someone and he drew the most interest.
4. Do you have any prospects ready to make their mark in the show? No. We got some guys in the low minors who I am intrigued by but nobody who is close. We are very exciting about Dave Fields who is 23 and been our top prospect and would be a rookie this year if not for the massive injuries to our rotation last year. He went 8-8 with a 4.38 ERA and a 2.6 WAR which I was impressed with for being thrown into the fire. He is in line to be our number 5 in the rotation this year so that should be fun to watch.
5. What is the biggest mistake you have made in the PBL?
Wow I have made so many. From bad contracts in free agency to stupid extensions, to bad trades and then the decision to let Shane in the league and ruin the idea of parity. Obviously kidding on the last part but man 30 years of history I need my own thread for this. Luckily a few good years made up for some of the stupid decisions.
6. In your opinion, who is the PBL's greatest player? This is such a tough question. I am going to vote for Sotan Kono. I could go on and on about this topic for hours though and at end would just ramble and not give a definitive answer.
What about today's players? I love watching Terrence Henderson (TB) and Guy Richmond (PIT).
7. Is your team's owner an asshole? He is demanding and controlling fiscally and I think with out history and market he could afford to open budget up a little but for the most part he is fair.
8. Predict the World Series. Winner/Loser/games.... My top 4 teams in the AL are: Indians, Orioles, Red Sox and Angels. For the NL my top 4 are Pirates, Dodgers, Marlins and Giants (just edging Reds). I always pick my team to win it but bad luck struck Boston last year with injury so I am going to say besides us, I think the Indians will represent the AL versus the Pirates with Indians winning it all. Everything is coming up Cleveland these days!

1. Give your overall offseason a Thumbs up, or a thumbs down, based on what you were hoping for when it began. Id give it a thumbs up, even though I would've liked to shore up the SS position and maybe a better overall pitching staff(although I have some young guys for next year maybe). But for a first offseason, it wasn't a bad one for me
2. Who are you most excited about adding? I'm most excited about all the prospects I got in the Willis and Page deals
3. Who are you going to miss the most from last years team? Willis and Page, even though it wasn't my team last yr
4. Do you have any prospects ready to make their mark in the show? 2B Richard Stone, (future SPs) RP Truman Childs, Armando Ramirez, Justin Rhault and Charles Morgan all will have a chance to make an impact this year, in differing amounts depending on injury to veterans.
5. What is the biggest mistake you have made in the PBL? None yet, but I could end up regretting trading Willis, depending on whether Willis third pitch works out. I felt comfortable trading him since he had less than a 4.5 K/9, even with two great pitches, so I didn't have too much to fret about since I got a good return(I really like Juan Carrasco's power/patience combo with good defense for a catcher)
6. In your opinion, who is the PBL's greatest player? No opinion, but it seems to be between Vasti and Kono
7. Is your team's owner an asshole? Um, not yet
8. Predict the World Series. Winner/Loser/games.... Im gonna defer to what Nick said since I don't know jack.

1. Give your overall offseason a Thumbs up, or a thumbs down, based on what you were hoping for when it began. Thumbs down. I had no $$ for free agents again this season so I relied on Rule V to fill roster needs. 2. Who are you most excited about adding? Several of the Rule V guys showed promise this spring.
3. Who are you going to miss the most from last years team? Alessandro Castaneda. He hit really well and played good defense for me last season. He was unwilling to sign an extension with the Cubs for this season. I will miss his bat and defense at 2B.
4. Do you have any prospects ready to make their mark in the show?
I am looking for a good season from waiver wire signed SP Bradley Valdes. He is ranked in the top 100 prospects and he had a good spring. I am looking for him to pitch well in the number 4 or 5 spot in the rotation. 5. What is the biggest mistake you have made in the PBL?
I made too many to list here. Last season was my first playing in this league and playing OOTP17. Trading away 18yr old slugger Jose Vera and Jeremy Miller were my two biggest mistakes.
6. In your opinion, who is the PBL's greatest player? I am new to the PBL but I would say Aaron Hicks certainly deserves to be considered for greatest player.
7. Is your team's owner an asshole? Not sure yet. I am disappointed that he lowered my budget by $10 million this season and that he didn't give me money for free agents but overall he seems reasonable/tolerant. The Cubs have not performed well over the last 5 or so years. Last season was a big improvement over 2038 but still well below .500.
8. Predict the World Series. Winner/Loser/games.... Reds over Indians in 5

1. Give your overall offseason a Thumbs up, or a thumbs down, based on what you were hoping for when it began.
It's always a best bang for your buck contest in Baltimore. I hope we did that well enough, and i happy for the most part about the offseason, so a tentative thumbs up.
2. Who are you most excited about adding?
Has to be all-star Stu Lane. Former Yankee and Blue Jay is a big bat, who isn't too old, and can play great D in CF. CF has been a revolving door in Baltimore despite some good years from several players in the past. I'm obviously betting on Lane being there for a while.
3. Who are you going to miss the most from last years team?
Jimmy McIntosh signed with the Phillies, but we never offered a contract. He wanted stupid money to resign during the season, and once we signed Stu Lane, his return wasn't in the plans. Still, he was very good last season. His presence in the lineup made other players better. He will be good in Phillly.
4. Do you have any prospects ready to make their mark in the show?
Yes, pitcher Marvin Padgett, whose only 21, may be pressed into service. We don't have depth here. He's probably ready ratings wise, but i like to have players succeed in AAA first. Might not have the choice with him.
5. What is the biggest mistake you have made in the PBL?
Drafting Roy Castle first overall in the 2028 draft. We won the lottery that year, without having the worst record. The draft was stacked with amazing looking pitchers. If i remember correctly, it wasn't the year to pick first. The 8th pick would be getting a similar prospect(I had the 8th pick too). Anyway, i believe I chose Castle over James Soloff who went 2nd. Castle looked to be the safest bet at stardom. He developed fine, had some very nice success in the bigs, then his arm fell off. They reattached it, and it fell off again and again. He was never close to the same. He now plays in my minors, as i feel compelled to employ the guy.
6. In your opinion, who is the PBL's greatest player?
Sotan Kono. Easy. The guys is amazing. He makes teams better himself. Baltimore had a lot of talent, combined with youth. We acquired Kono, and he pushed us over the edge. Made us better, carrying us to the World Series a year after finishing last. Trading him 3 years later crushed me, but i couldn't afford to pay the man. I was also betting that the 37 year old might age at some point. He hasn't, and is still fantastic today at 43! His stats are mind blowing!
7. Is your team's owner an asshole?
Yes, my owner is an asshole. I make him money, we have amazing attendance, and i feel we squeezes us as much as possible. 8. Predict the World Series. Winner/Loser/games....
Indians over the Cubs in 6.....oh...wait, that's in another universe

1. Give your overall offseason a Thumbs up, or a thumbs down, based on what you were hoping for when it began.
Probably a thumbs down... We're in a tough phase in Arizona right now, our championship window that we had from 2030-2038 has finally closed, and we are poised to enter a rebuild. After a weak season with a budget reduction, 75% of our budget is taken up by our 3 star pitchers, so we were very limited in what we could do in the offseason, without trading away all of our pitchers and completely tanking.
2. Who are you most excited about adding?
CF Chris Brown. I love elite defensive players, and Brown is one of the best CF in the league. His offence sucks, but that is a recurring theme with our team this year...
3. Who are you going to miss the most from last years team?
CF Miguel Murillo. He was one of my favourite players, and was a solid offensive player in addition to being a great defender.
4. Do you have any prospects ready to make their mark in the show?
Define prospect... We have a lot of scrub Minor League FA ready to start in the big leagues this year, but our only somewhat prospect is CL Joe Nunn, who will make his major league debut at the age of 26.
5. What is the biggest mistake you have made in the PBL?
I'm not sure... there aren't any trades that I look back on and really regret. In hindsight, probably the Manny Cabrera trade worked out the worst. I wanted a 4th SP in Jose Cruz to try to help us make a run, and traded a 1st round pick as well in that trade, but we never were able to win it all with Cruz. The lack of 1st round picks we've had in the last 10 years are about to hurt us a lot.
I looked through my history answering this question... man I miss the 2033 Diamondbacks, that team was unbelievable.
6. In your opinion, who is the PBL's greatest player?
Orlando Perez.. I'm biased of course, but I watch every game for our team (other than the last 2 years when I was inactive), and he is truly a one of a kind pitcher. 6 time Cy Young award winner, and he is still going strong.
If I'm choosing a hitter it's probably Kono or Vasti..
7. Is your team's owner an asshole?
I don't think so. My budget shrunk a lot this year, and is about to shrink a lot more once we lose money this year, but I think for the most part he's fair. My only complaint is that when we were doing well, and leading the league in attendance, he never raised the budget enough for us to go out and get that last piece to the puzzle.
8. Predict the World Series. Winner/Loser/games....
I'll go Reds over Angels in 6

1. Give your overall off season a Thumbs up, or a thumbs down, based on what you were hoping for when it began.
Definitely a thumbs up!. Trading away Thornton was a priority this season and that was accomplished. I'll miss the guy but, I took a chance that he would be the catalyst in the 2035 season for a run at the world series and my team regressed to an almost 100 loss season from a previous year 87 win team.
2. Who are you most excited about adding?
Not really an add, but I had to let SS Ramon Castillo walk because he was a free agent and I wasn't going to offer him a qualifying offer. I was very happy to sign him back to the team. He was a Rule V pick in the 2034 season and has been stellar ever since. To an extent SS Ed Hahn also. He is unproven but 5 mil a year is better than 25 mil that I took Thornton for. Hahn is having a great spring.
3. Who are you going to miss the most from last years team?
Chris Thornton:(....I really did love the guy!
4. Do you have any prospects ready to make their mark in the show?
I do indeed! SPs Jeremy Mcneil and Ron Kennedy will be in the opening day rotation. They are both 2035 draft picks who came up together. Mcneil went an amazing 16-0 last season in Tacoma and Kennedy has an amazing knuckle ball. Jesus garza will be the opening day closer. He was a 2035 Rule V draft pick. Lastly, although I'm hesitant to do it, AA prospect Ralph Berose has pitched superb in his spring invite, and I'm teetering on whether to add him to the rotation or not. I'm leaning on giving him a month or two in AAA before giving him a shot.
5. What is the biggest mistake you have made in the PBL?
Chris Thornton:(
6. In your opinion, who is the PBL's greatest player?
Sotan Kono...43 years old and still hitting for AVG. and HRs....no contest! Dustin Ackley is a distant 2nd...sorry Anthony:)
7. Is your team's owner an asshole?
No, I can't fault the guy for slashing my budget every year. I've been close to a 100 loss team for what, the last 5 seasons now. He has a right to be angry. The fans do too. If this were real life, I would have been fired a while ago. I'm close to being relevant again...I promise.
8. Predict the World Series. Winner/Loser/games....
I think Shane is going to bounce back this season. Buccos over Indians in 6.

1. Give your overall offseason a Thumbs up, or a thumbs down, based on what you were hoping for when it began.
Thumbs up I guess. I brought back most of the my 99-win team from last year. There were a few switches, but generally I think my team is pretty much the same, maybe better. But I got lucky with injuries last year, so who knows.
2. Who are you most excited about adding?
Most of the people I added are from last year, so nobody really.
3. Who are you going to miss the most from last years team?
David Harmon probably. He was great, I just don't know if I can justify overpaying for him.
4. Do you have any prospects ready to make their mark in the show?
George Martin looks to be my starting 3B. As long as his bat isn't horrible, his fielding will make him worthwhile.
5. What is the biggest mistake you have made in the PBL?
Of bad mistakes, I've made a few . . . I guess the easy guess is extending Dylan Jones and Greg Martin. Each became a bench player with a year or two left.
6. In your opinion, who is the PBL's greatest player?
Roberto Vasti. OBP is less sexy than SLG, but it's still better.
7. Is your team's owner an asshole?
Nah, he's pretty reasonable. So far.
8. Predict the World Series. Winner/Loser/games....
Like I would know.

1. Give your overall offseason a thumbs up, or a thumbs down, based on what you were hoping for when it began. If you judge based on WAR lost, we have lost the 2nd most WAR of any team in the PBL from last year's team. Losing C Eric Harrison from any lineup would leave big shoes to fill for any squad. We're hoping that full seasons from Jose Vera and Jeremy Miller will help fill that void. We're also hoping that full seasons from van Pelt and Bean in our rotation will make us a much more balanced team than we were for most of the season last year. It looks like 2B Rich Thornton will be joining the team in June, which will help balance our offensive attack as well. Overall, it's a thumbs up. I like the makeup of this team.
2. Who are you most excited about adding? SP Dave Bean. We traded for him last offseason and are excited to have him for the next two seasons. He's one of the top pitchers in the PBL and we like our chances in nearly any playoff series with Taylor and Bean leading our rotation.
3. Who are you going to miss the most from last years team? It's gotta be C Eric Harrison. He just wanted way too much money when we tried to resign him.
4. Do you have any prospects ready to make their mark in the show? 1B Jose Vera, CF Jeremy Miller and SP Masufumi Masuda all will be making the Opening Day roster for the first time in their careers. All of them will be contending for the Rookie of the Year this season.
5. What is the biggest mistake you have made in the PBL? The biggest mistake I've made in the PBL is arguing longer than I should. Most people in the PBL are great guys and in the past I've continued to argue a point instead of just making the point and moving on. It's something I've tried to work on but it's something that I need to keep working on getting better at doing.
6. In your opinion, who is the PBL's greatest player? Sotan Kono. Vasti is an amazing player in his own right and many people have made great points as to why his is the best. It's just amazing to me to see Kono continue to produce at 43.
7. Is your team's owner an asshole? Fortunately for me not yet. When I started with the Reds, we had one of the smaller budgets in the PBL. The more and more success we've had, Robert Castellini Jr. has been more than willing to increase our budget. He definitely has some odd goal requests at times, but he's better than some owners that my fellow gms have to deal with.
8. Predict the World Series. Winner/Loser/games.... Indians/Marlins/6 games

1. Give your overall offseason a Thumbs up, or a thumbs down, based on what you were hoping for when it began.
Thumbs up. While I am still feeling out my team, I feel we were able to add a couple of Major Leaguer’s this spring that will keep the Warhounds competitive.
2. Who are you most excited about adding?
I am hopeful that Porter Wilson will provide a power presence in the middle of the lineup.
3. Who are you going to miss the most from last years team?
No one after Kwan-Cheol Nang invoked his 10-5 rights to veto his trade to Cincinnati.
4. Do you have any prospects ready to make their mark in the show?
Patrick Dawson has 62 big league games under his belt. He has impressed this spring and looks ready to breakout.
5. What is the biggest mistake you have made in the PBL?
Nothing yet but give me time.
6. In your opinion, who is the PBL's greatest player?
Haven’t been around here long enough to have an opinion, but I am told by the fans here in Carolina that Nang with his 391 homeruns over his 14 year career here is the greatest Warhound of all time.
7. Is your team's owner an asshole?
He gave me some cash to work with this spring, so right now we are on good terms.
8. Predict the World Series. Winner/Loser/games....
I’m an optimist so I am predicting the Warhounds in 4 over the LA Angels.

1. Give your overall offseason a Thumbs up, or a thumbs down, based on what you were hoping for when it began.I'll say thumbs up! While we lost a few bodies and, by WAR, we are off a bit (seems to be a common story this season - unless you're Philly or the other LA), I feel we have the right pieces in place and have added enough to make another run at the post-season, with the idea of getting a bit further this year! 2. Who are you most excited about adding?I was able to secure another quality arm for the bullpen in Daron Accord (coming off his World Series win with Miami). He was a bit stinky in Philadelphia, but seemed to be quite good in Miami. I'm hoping our park agrees with him and we can eek out a few more close games. Most like a setup guy for us, but we'll see how it plays out. As I write this, I have given up on two sluggers that have priced themselves beyond me, so I have moved on to a third that I hope can provide a quality DH with a little over the fence pop, to minimize the number of close games we're in too! 3. Who are you going to miss the most from last years team? Not sure if we will miss anyone. Possibly the bats of Arroyo and Camacho, but both (at least in my opinion) were tailing off and too much of a risk to bring back for more than a season, so they are sitting in FA still. I was disappointed in the CEI of my projected DH Rodgers, but he was merely an OK bat with a bit of defense. To push for the next level we need someone that can hopefully consistently crank a few out of Angel Stadium as a clean-up hitter. 4. Do you have any prospects ready to make their mark in the show?A constant stream of them each year, we have been so mediocre! But they are beginning to pay off. The latest will hopefully be RF Ken Lawrence. He was a first rounder of mine in 2035, decent bat and 10 defense, yet again with an eye on helping our young pitching rotation. 5. What is the biggest mistake you have made in the PBL?Each year I spent more than I should early in my PBL career! It simply delays any sort of success and rarely pays off. In my opinion, you simply have to take your lumps and laser-focus on building for the future, if you do not start with a decent squad. Hopefully I have turned that corner and can now steadily increase the money flowing and the talent level to finally see the benefit of all that misery. 6. In your opinion, who is the PBL's greatest player?Shane! That was posted elsewhere half in jest as he's not a "player" in the game, but he is the man! If enough of us gang up on him, maybe as a group we can relegate him to mere mortal status......... someday! Or if enough of us continue to pay compliments, he'll totally slip up for several seasons, so the rest of us have a recurring shot at the ultimate prize. 7. Is your team's owner an asshole? You be the judge. He's both demanding and an economizer (understatement). While our winning the past couple of years is finally edging the budget up bit by bit, from $95M to $104M this season, from a low of $80M when I arrived, he is already projecting a claw-back of $30+M this season! Yikes!! He is 72 though, so maybe he's just finally taking out what he is owned, finally? I'll try my best to operate right up to the line, so that I can possibly minimize the sticky finger effect! 8. Predict the World Series. Winner/Loser/games....I guessed wrong picking Pittsburgh last year. And I still have us on target for 2041 (when I expect to face Anthony's Braves btw). It would not be a stretch to simply say the same two teams will be there in the end again too. But I will go out on a limb and predict and "All-Ohio" series, with Cleveland ending their lengthy drought! Good Luck to all in PBL!!! Let's play some ball...
By the way, FANTASTIC RESPONSE to this too! Well done.
