As the commissioner approaches the podium to announce the next selection, the crowd spontaneously begins singing:
"Go, Cubs go Go, Cubs go Hey Chicago, what do you say The Cubs are gonna win today
Go, Cubs go Go, Cubs go Hey Chicago, what do you say The Cubs are gonna win today"
The commissioner signals for the crowd to please quiet down a bit as he announces the 11th pick in the 2040 PBL draft.
"With the 11th pick in the 2040 PBL draft, the Chicago Cubs (cheering!) select from San Jose State, SP Jose Ramierz."
Ramierz projects to be a front of the rotation starter for Chicago. His final year for the Spartans saw him go 9-2 with an ERA of 2.14 in 15 games. He struck out 132 in 101 innings of work. With a solid 11.8 k/9 this kid can throw. Primarily uses a really nice curve and changeup both of which can really buckle the knees of right handed hitters. Spartans head coach Jason Hawkins had nothing but praise for his ace pitcher, "The kid can pitch! He will easily be among the upper echelon of strikeout pitchers and you can take that to the bank!" #GoCubsGo

With the 12th pick in the draft, Arizona will select SS Eric 'Silent Mike' Byford, out of Whistler B.C.
Not a pick I'd usually make, as I usually lean towards SP and strong defence, but I think it's time for a bit of change. Hopefully his high intelligence can help him improve into a decent defender.

With the 13th pick, the Twins select SP Mike Smith from Frankfort, IL.
Twins executives were overherad saying that his name might be generic, but his talent is exceptional.

With the 23rd pick in the draft, this pick was an absolute no brainer. The Boston Red Sox select:
SP- Ken Powers
The only question about this was what his in-game nickname will be. In a tribute to the great East Bound & Down, the options will be:
The People's Champion. The Shelby Sensation. The Reverse Apache Master. The Man with the Golden Dick. Doctor Cock and Balls. La Flama Blanca. The Bulletproof Tiger.
He will also be wearing #55.

THE RELIEVER SEAL IS BROKEN! Ha! Gave Ron a list last night and both COLEMAN and KENNY POWERS were just above him. Debated a position player that I HOPE may slide to the second round, but doubt it. So HoF reliever of the future ( apparently). We shall see. Thanks Ron. Just got home from work this minute, so probably could have made the pick, but still would have gone MOLINA.
